Mountain Tamer vs Fast M-10 for the FX Nytro

Lots of threads on here about the Timbersled Mountain tamer, but not alot on the Fast M-10 for the Nytro. Would like to hear pros & cons from those who have ridden them. Is one better than the other in certain functions / conditions?

the first one is how much you want to spend m-10 is twice the cost of the timber skid & 20+lbs heavier unless you want to pay close to 5000$ for a light weight m-10.timber skid great all around skid for a great price.m-10 great skid if set up right & installed right, best ride & the best hill climb skid there is.:beer;:beer;

I have not rode a nitro with a m10 but the one thing i do know besides the great for hill climbing thing is ridding out of the big dog back to the trucks i got thrashed like ridding a bull and trying the hit one bump jump three on my stock skid apex. I was riding out with Irmen and that skid was smooth he clipped along like **** all and im out of control trying to keep up or stay in front.lol So not just a hill climb skid.

you missed this, not enough coffee yet:face-icon-small-win & i just got off work & i thought i was sleepy ,there is no coffee thingies on here so:beer;:beer;

Have rode both and in my opinion the best ride and hill climb goes to the m10, it is very adjustable especially with a jack. The ride you get makes the front of your sled feel rough, it will make you upgrade your front shocks. The down fall of the M10 is the weight, you solve that with a trip to cr and buy his cr10. Simular to the m10 but quite a bit lighter. JMO

Thanks. I saw the CR-M10, and whoo-boy it is nice but expensive. The stock M-10 159 is less than 1/2 and a bit more than the Mt. tamer. I like the idea that the Tamer drops 38 pounds, but don't want sore back & knees getting to the bowls either.

I have both......Timber on the Nytro and CR10 174 on the Apex.
ride quality and less lift all the way on the CR10.
fun factor (bookdock and medium lift) to the timber.
Timber can climb well enough to get you up the steep stuff staying flat but not as flat as the m10/cr10.

I always tell people when they ask me how I like the timber........."excellent skid for the money"
alan @ timber is working on a twin shock rear set up for high hp application....so that is all the 4 strokes:p

Happy boosting.:beer;

Thanks Climbmax! I was looking for a opinion like that. Since a turbo won't be in the immediate future, and I do more boondocking than climbing, I think the Timber is more of what I'm looking for.

So I know the timber will work way better than stock off the trail, but how does it handle the bumps on the trail compared to the stock suspension? I ride alot of trails to and from the hills and don't want to sacrifice the trail ride. I want the best of both worlds

I know this was not a question but I loved my ez ryde great on the trails and great in the climbs it was close to the m10 for ski lift but the m10 is still better but its 1/2 the money rides better than the stock skid and it looks realy cool on the sled. I plan on installing one on my nytro also

Looked at the EZ-Ryde & I do like the features, but doesn't it require you to use their mounting locations & not the stock? Thats one nice thing about the Timbersled design, no drilling new mounting holes.

yes you do have to remount the skid in their locations with a template they provide. It moves it back a bit to keep the rail tips from hitting the drivers but this should help correct the Approach angle on the nyto but I am not to keen on having more holes in my stuff.

This is the new age

This is the new age for suspension tech and this skid provides a new level of off performance. The single shock suspention can actualy be set to maintain constant approach angle for great deep snow performance and keeps the front end down more than any skid period! Unlike verticaly placed shocks this skid is rising rate progression allowing for smooth trail ride with bottoming resistance and only weights 30 lbs. No its not cheap but it is the best.

I wouldn't be calling a product to be the best until it goes out and takes down the best (live axle m10), I do recall a certain exhaust manifold that was suppose to be the best for not cracking, huge hype over it, all talked up by the maker and look what happened there.

acording to AD bolvin im running the best , being the zx2 lmfao. if the next tech is the best why is the only place any ones seen it is on the web site ? id love to see it in action though same price as a cr10 and at half the weight. if it can do the same things as a cr10 ill take one ...

LOL, that looks like a sic skid. But those are big words when virtually every sleds that kills it (like no other) in the "Steep & Deep" is running a M10.

If you crank up the Jack on my M10 the thing will climb a wall without coming over backwards. It is unreal to be able to hold the throttle wide open at 19-20 lbs. for the entire shoot, without even coming off the throttle. :D I'm getting an adrenaline rush just thinking about it LOL. :beer;
