Mountain Tamer Upgrade

I was just wondering if anyone has tried out the upgrade for the mountain tamer rear suspension? Any thought or opinions?

I ordered the kit and will try it out on my Nytro to see if it will keep the skiis down a bit better this year.

Thanks for any input.

Doubt it will help with ski pressure,, he changed the shock mounting position to help with the ride..

The mounting angle of both rear shocks can be changed, as well as the limiters. It can be up to 30% stiffer and should definitely help with keeping the front end down if that's what you need. Just has a bigger range of adjustments now. You can still have it soft if you want. Have put 4 or 5 updates in already, gonna do mine pretty quick here, looking forward to trying it out when we get some rideable snow.

I have put my update kit in! The shock relocation is to make it stiffer to handle the big stuff and keep the skis down with boost. They send a tuning guide to set it up for your power range.

I think changing the rear shock angle will definately keep skis down. My question is, will it keep them down to much for average riding? You don't want to be relocating the shocks on the mountain. I think it needs something like the M10 jack to be able to change rear shock angle quickly when your on the mountain. What works on the steep hills doesn't always work for average riding.

That would be a nice option, a Mountain Tamer Jack :D Maybe Allen and Bud Are reading this. In the meantime you can always adjust the rear shock pressure for climbing, that will help.

I have thought about this alot....be nice just to loosen a bolt and slide it ahead for stiifer ride....should be easy enough. How many guys are running the new heavier rear arm??

Budd have you looked at this idea?

Yes that would be nice. Does anyone remember that post last yeat where someone had an M-10 and a mountain tamer side by side. One of the main differences was the shock angle. That is why I am hoping/thinking the new shock angle will work much better but an adjustment system like the M-10 would be nice.

i'll have my update kit together this weekend, i noticed even though i'm not boosted i'm gonna try the new shock angle, i think it will ride and work better than the old shock position

Sorry to say but I think it will be too stiff' moving tha shock just a bit will make a huge diffrence. maybe with a turbo but definately no need without. too many sacrifices

i think i'll benefit as with stock shock location i was already running high pressures to keep from bottoming. by running the stiffer shock angle i can run lower pressure and have better performance and a more progressive spring rate. In soft snow conditions on decent pulls my sled had the tendency to wheelie when cresting a hill then dig itself down cause the sled does not have enough forward momentum, i don't like running shims to control lift because than makes the suspension not perform right for any other riding.

thistledoo- i got my new rear arm a few weeks ago, the bracing for the crossshaft should been on these a long time ago, seems lke a no brainer to me

The shims on the rear arm set the point where the suspension couples. That's the point at which both ends of the skid start working together and it stiffens up

I know TS ugraded the rear crossshaft for the rear shock, but did they also upgrade to a befier rear arm from last year?

Yup the new rear arm has a larger diameter cross tube and a whole new bigger aluminum cross shaft which looks alot beefier....
