Hi Guys, i have 03 zx summit 700 with a 144" on it and was wondering what i can doo in the mountains with the suspension to keep it from trenching so much when i go climbing?

Overall the sled is pretty much stock, other than v forces and a hps can.

thanks for any help

is'nt really a hole lot you can do to the stock suspension to help with trenching. I'd say you just need more power and a bigger track. About the only thing that I think would help with a stock setup to reduce trenching when climbing would be to drop and roll your chain case. That would improve your attack angle. Other than that start your climb from further back and hit the bottom of the hill at 80 mph.:plane:

If you look at the upper rear bracket (where the upper wheels are) you'll see two small holes under the mounting holes. I drilled them out the same size as the mounting holes and that drops your rear by 1/2" or so and acts like drop brackets. Not a night-and-day difference but it certainly helped with mine! Leave the forward track shock soft so the approach angle is good and shallow and adjust ski springs to get the right amount of ski pressure (will probably have to soften them slightly as dropping the rear creates more ski pressure). Worked for me!

Have FUN!

Hey thanks, that sounds like great advice. i was kind of thinking the same thing on the shocks and the drop bracket, but wasnt really sure. thanks again

I'm a rooky but have been fiddling with my suspension quite a bit. I've got an 01 800 Summit/151. When I started I could steer like it was on rails. It's a little twitchy now but it sidehills and just plain works good. Torsion cranked, I'm 190 lbs. Front suspensiuon shock in middle pos. and front spring preload at one. The biggest difference was dropping my rear to the lowest mount pos and the limiting strap. Let that baby out if you want more contact with your track. Don't go too far or you loose steering.
