mountain max horse power

Talk about splitting hairs here ...
If any maker of engines says what their engine make, they don't say "it make xxx hp, no more, no less" because they can't, run one engine in one dyno and it may show 114hp (for ex.) run same engine in another dyno it may show 120hp.
And one more thing, no one makes the engines with 100% tolerance, they can diff quite a bit, also the builders can sometimes change something (porting, pipe, ignition or all above) from the prototypes that usually is the benchmark that they take the power info from, to the actual engine the customers get hold of.
But if we say that a Yamaha Mountain Max 700 engine put out between 110 and 120hp in some dyno we should be in the ballpark, the MM700 i had made at least 114 compared to other sleds with around 120hp.
By the way, i had an 1998 SRX600, how many hp should that have? Mine had 128hp.

Well to awnser your question:

Stock 700 MM motor 110-115 hp max. 112 is a good average. BUT.......very friendly motor to mod. Pipe, head, reeds and some porting and your knocking on the door of 150hp. Good times.......I wish I still had my 02, gas and go sled. Eric

I agree with all above, 110+ HP is nice with the very wide powerband, which it has dispite the abcence of variable exhaust ports, after a season i added SLP tripples, rised the compression a bit and did a mild trail porting and sure it got more power, but the powerband got alot more narrow.
I also miss my MM700 01 sometimes, i might buy an 01-02 "to my wife" ;-)

My first sled was a 2000 MM 700. Great sled. My buddy still has it. The best money you can spend on performance is Bender triple pipes. They really wake up the motor.
