Mountain Lion

I was just coming home from work and had a Mountain Lion cut across the road infront of me.......

Now I know they are big... But this fella had his tale stretched out as he came up from the creek and ran in front of my truck across the road and up a 30 ft rock cliff like nothing..... He was easily as long as 1 lane wide......

I'm still looking for the right words to express my self other than O.M.F.G. Was that Awsome!!!!

Wish I had a camera or time to pull out my cell phone but it happened in about 3 seconds........

What an impressive Cat!!!!!

If the 09's are anything like what I just saw..... I'm jumping brands....LOL

I've lived in rural B.C. for 36 years and have only seen picture of them up tree's or shot already...... I had no idea they were so massive!!!!

WOW

i havent ever seen any alive ones in person but ive seen a few pics and some shot ones, but up where we deer and elk hunt they're supposed to be pretty heavily populated and sometimes in the summer when were horse riding up there we'll come across trees with elk legs and other carcus parts hangin way up in the branches. that gives you an idea of the power and size of these cats, to drag a freakin elk up a tree, it kinda gives you an eary feeling walkin around up there in the dark while hunting knowing that they are in the area.

Them putey cats scare my more than anything, they don't just come after you in self-defence like a bear, it they want you, they will stock you for miles, then pounce on you like a field mouse. Came out of a road a few years ago with fresh snow, back tracked a ways and found cat prints right next to mine, I had the old 7mm drawn along with the .40 backup!

up by china basin me and kev went for a hike and when we came back the trail there were some griz tracks that weren't there when we went up and were literally ontop of our tracks, i pulled the shot gun out and put the .22 pistol away

I figured some of the fella's on here might have hunted or scene these Cat's.....

Thinking about the Elk up a tree and body parts makes makes me think long and hard after what I've just saw.....

To think that they will stalk you gives me the creeps for sure..... Makes me think my dog's don't even have a clue what's out in the back yard..... I have bears/elk/deer/coyotees/etc. in my yard all the time.... Never really thought about Mountain Lions.....

I also can't quit thinking about people that have fought these animal's off..... Appear Big....... I know I'll never be as big as an Elk.......

about a year and a half ago, i was drivin around in my dads old 78 250 ranger,
i came around a switch back and that ol 460 liked to drift so i was comming out of the drift and this puddy tat came along the drivers side of the truck and i swear to god it was from nose to tip of the tail long as the truck from bumper to bumper ( std cab long bed 2wd) and it was in a low slung running position but if it had stood along side the truck the head would have easily cleared the hood

( not the same truck, but same year and type except this is 4wd

Sure it wasn't your last girlfriend coming back for her panties? What is it about you that attracts the vicious ones with long claws. Maybe its time for ya to start working the churchs and grocery stores. lol.

I'm glad to hear your a bit scared of 'em, you'll keep that other half of your stuff much longer that way.

If I can make it up, maybe you can be my guide at the Element and show me her sister. Have a good one. EW

ive only seen two in the wild, magnificent creatures.

one was sunning himself on the rocks just lounging, and the other was running across the top of a cliff across the river from where i was.

I always carry the .45 though... cant take a chance with crazy wild pu$$y cats roaming around :face-icon-small-win

those things frikin scare me more than bears do and i have had my fair share with sow grizzlies with 2 cubs but i would be way more scaird of a cat than a bear!

Working 2nd shift I've been taking my dogs for a walk after work round 11pm. A couple of strange incidents have happened as of late...a couple of weeks ago we passed through the park by some garbage cans and on the way back they both were pretty much dumped over and and the trash was all over. It was wet out fairly cold and dark as hell. I know it was probably a bear but me and my dogs have run across bears a few times and they're response was to chase it...other than that they dont seem overly concerned about bears. This time they were on edge like I've never seen. Rapid breathing, anxious growls, walking in circles trying to pick up a scent.
The other night I ran into some guy who was spending the night up there and he said that some rangers had tagged/tranquilzed a cat a while back. I guess they've been tracking this animal for some time and apparently this animal's travels are huge. If any of you North Benders hit Rattlesnake lake after dark beware.

last season a couple of my buddies were walking throught the trees goin huntin at about 5:30 and they kept hearing something (in the dark) and it kept following thema nd they were getting purdy freaked out. finally they heard it behind them on the trail and turned around with the flashlight to see 2! mtn lions stalking them 10 ft behind them! one of my buddies emedieatly opened fire on their azzes and he got one casue eh found a blood trail later and they called yp the fish and game and let them know what happened! totally forgot about that story but it scaired the sheit out
them!

A friends father saw one on my land, My wife has seen it too but I have not seen it yet but hope to.

.

I've seen 2 of them, the first one ran across an oilfield road I was driving on near Cadotte Lake, but it was 100 yards or better ahead of me and I didn't get a real good look but you could tell it was a huge cat. the second time was this summer, it came out of the ditch on the highway between Whitecourt and Edson, maybe 20 yards in front of me. it walked up onto the road and started walking along a guardrail on my side, tail straight up, my first thought was a monkey? the tail was crazy long, maybe like 4 or 5 feet and it took a second to realize it was a cougar. I swerved at it to try and squish it into the guardrail with my lobed trailer, the thing jumped 4' over the rail like nothing and scampered away. it was huge, couldn't imagine one of those stalking me, I'll bet more have seen me than I've seen them.....

we have them in iowa. about once a month someone reports seeing one. one was killed by a car about 20 miles away a few years back. last month one was seen a half mile from my house, most of the time we figure they see a bobcat, but the lady that saw the last one, the first thing she brought up was the long sweeping tail. as much coyote hunting as we do, we have yet to see one, but i sure hope we eventually do, there are no laws protecting them in the state, so it is fair game.:D

I have seen quite a few cats. My favorite ones are the dead kind. Incredibly hard on your deer and elk population.

I have been stalked twice when elk hunting in September. Gives me the willies.

Their numbers are growing around here also

We had a deer slaughtered in yard a number of years ago. I figured it was 'yotees. Others who viewed the carcuss said "no way", the way it was torn apart it was a big kitty

Also in Gimpster's area, we just had a report about a month ago of a Cat being spotted just outside of town, took someone's house cat. Not sure on the validity of the story tho...

I work in the Badlands in prime MC lands. Not allowed to carry guns at work, scares the chit out of me in the fall when I do range work. Only seen one though out there, he was as scared of me as I was of him for some reason, adn he was gone. Absolutely magnificant animals...

I live 3 miles north of bismarck, by the railroad tracks. The railroad crosses my property on the west end. I have seen the reflection of cat's eyes, off the patio lights, at night through our mid tree row which seperates our rear acreage. 'yotees eyes also, can't mistake the cat eyes. The cat comes in where the fence is down along the tracks. I have alfalfa planted back there for horses to graze. Constantly deer grazing back there... prime cat bate.
When hunting the badlands north of belfield (back in by Magpie road) We have seen cat tracks...
Have found cat tracks on our property near Dunn Center also. They are out there and expanding their terrtories in ND
