Took the update parts out for a spin today in what I expected to be spring slush but it turned out to be about 6" fresh powder over soft corn. Took a bit to acclimate to it, and we also had visibility problems at times, but, it rocked! The ball joint limiting shafts worked very well and you could really feel the increase in solidity on the back. I was skeptical about this and the at the shafts meet in the center, but it held up today like a champ.
The ski mount also contributed a much more solid feel on the front. I still felt the ski was washing out a little more than my yeti ski would've in those conditions, but it was very controllable and noticeably more responsive with the new mount. Looking forward to true corn snow testing with it.
I beat on the kit pretty hard by jumping, lots of gully banging and hard whooped trail riding that bottomed both ends of the bike continuously for miles. It was very predictable and I felt like I could have pushed quite a bit harder, but i didn't feel I needed to go any harder on it because I'm 42.
The spring thing, well I'm not sure it did much for me today but in very deep powder it's possible that it would help traction. It won't help the hammering effects but I've already solved that issue anyway so I wasn't looking for that. I don't think I'll be able to find out about the deep powder performance this year so that will have to wait.
Overall, these parts answered some of the important questions I had on the kit and I'll keep testing but its looking positive from here. I had an absolute blast riding it today. Burned a lot of gas just zooming around in all directions, slashing up banks and bumps as hard as I could. Aired it out many times, maybe 40 times like pictured. Not all landings were soft or elegant.
