"Motleyone Kustoms" Black Beauty

Thanks X, how you been doin?

Just want to report back on the mainden voyage. A small hiccup out of the gate with the chain case on Saturday but Sunday was UNREAL. We rode Boulder all day and the snow was fabulous. It was a little over cast so we played in the toilet bowl.

The initial clutch setup on this beast is a 170/300 primary with Supertip YX55 weights with 71 grams all in the heel. The secondary is a cat green wound to 30 degrees. The helix is a 49/41. I cannot believe how the clutching was nailed right out of the gate. This setup was good up to 14-15lbs. I didnt push it to hard being the first day of riding it but I did push it to 16-17 lbs and she was bangin the rev limiter HARD. I have a feeling she will take about 78-80 grams at 20-20lbs and it will be hard to hold onto. At 15lbs it was ridiculous. The Closed Loop Imuplse Standalone ran perfect. No hiccups or bobbles or anything else on this sled. Paul took her for a short rip and was very impressed with the bottom end on this sled, I don't think he wanted to give it back so quickly. Anyhow, I will get some video up soon, maybe next weekend.

I also rode Paul personal Nypex and this new ECU/FUEL management system will change mountain riding. Saturday he did some tuning and Sunday he changed out the coil packs to some upgraded ones and the sled wen balistic. At 18-20 lbs the sled was amazing and climbed everything he pointed it at. The studder button function was awesome to watch and it was very cool to see Paul so excited about this product. You Nytro guys hold on cause it is coming soon for you. It is going to be amazing to be able to change timing to the fuel you are running. I believe there will be 2 maps in each ECU, one for a low boost option and one for high boost (high octane). Of course it runs closed loop so you don't have to mess with buttons or dials. It auto tunes AS YOU RIDE.

Sled looked good Kevin. Hey why do you run such light weights? I run 83 gr at 15-16 lbs and loaded at the tip. I even run 80 gr on my kids Nytro at 18 lbs with just a headshim.

Oh BTW...I wouldn't say Paul climbed everything sat, I was with him.:face-icon-small-win. lol

It is a lot of coin for sure. Some guys just don't like to wrench or build things, they just want to ride. Some guys cannot build a machine like this. I guess the real benefit is the experience I have in building the Nytro from the ground up. I don't build any other sled because in my opinion there is no better platform to build from. A guy can screw alot of things up on a build like this and it will cost you down the road, some times immediately. I know there are companies out there that can build a sled like this but not for what I can build and sell them. I also only build one sled at a time. I don't care how long it takes me I just want it to be done right. Each sled is fully customizeable and I am always available to talk to. Hell, I will have you come and help with the build if you want to. I want you to understand your sled from top to bottom, you will enjoy it much more that way. You would be surprised who buys sleds like this, sometimes guys just want to have the best in their trailer.:jaw:

well put motley, i hope to have the best in the trailer someday too, and say i built er myself to boot also. i can;t imagine how proud you must be to finish building it and just stand back and look at it. I deem this a snowest build of the year. well done. would like to know more details about that turbo kit and sled. didn;t know external wastegates were watercooled.

so she ran good motley? see you in the boulder parking lot! didnt get to see you up top though.

Thanks Neil, she got a lot of looks for sure. I edited the post, it was Sunday that Paul changed out the coils and dropped some clutch weight. He said the difference was amazing. It ran amazing, it hits so hard you can barely hold on to it. He is running lots of weight in the tips as well. I think on the Apex you can do that and you can on the Nytro as well if your spring and flyweights match. It just depends on the primary spring your running as well as the Cam arm profile and the weights of course. These new suprtips are real thin on the tips and have a very aggressive curve. I knew at first I would not be pushing the boost to high so I clutched it for that. I also picked a spring and weights that would maximize the low end torque that the Nytro is know for. That is also the reason I load the heel. With the dual angle helix I have in it you have to run a spring with a higher pretension and full shift out rate along with lighter weights to reach target rpms. The 49 degree helix angle makes this thing fly off the line then at full shift out the 41 degree on the helix will help maintain peak rpms. This sled has dual rate valve springs in it so it will be interesting to see what happens with the clutch weights once I get her up to 22-24 lbs and that extra power is actually utilized. You know the more I read on clutching and try the more I realize how little I know. It is all experimental and theory until you hit the hill. I would have loved for you to throw a leg over this sled to see what ya think of the bottom end. Maybe we can hook up in Revy in a few weeks.

Thanks Roughrider I appreciate the comments. The turbo kit is the Impulse Race Kit with the 2871 Garrett turbo with the .86 housing. We run the Tial blow off valve as well as an External Tial wastegate. The one we run is new to the kit this year and indeed water cooled to help prolong the life and to protect the diaphram from over heating. The wastegate and downpipe drop straight down out of the tunnel. Everything is connected with V-Band clamps with exception of the header to the motor of course. The V-Band clamps are super easy to install and remove. The system is super responsive.
