Monte Snow Report

Just got back from an early morning ride, nothing to write home about. The snotel was optimistic at best. Maybe 4" avg most areas, wind blown covering hard ice. Beat us up pretty good, its really not worth the trip. All the south facing slopes are brown to the ground, ice on top from wind and sun, small patches of 5" powder on north and east slopes. We had a good time nonetheless, but probably the last for the year unless we get a big one. Its melting fast, all the way to and including the parking lot is dirt.

I'll be riding tomorrow and will let you know our findings. I know brighton got around 24", so I am thinking it could be good.

Me and a riding friend are heading to Tony's Grove tomorow, I will let you guys know how it went and try and take some pictures. But I am sure there is still a good month or more up there.

we have a small group going to Bear Lake this weekend, planning to hit Hardware Ranch for the first time... should we expect to see these same conditions there? If so, maybe we should go to Tony Grove instead??

Very safe bet that Hardware Ranch will be bare if the Top of Monte is getting slim. Hardware is about the same elevation as Ant Flats and Ant flats is just a little lower than the Monte parking lot.

Thanks for the update, was going to go on Wed. Not now.
We went last week on Tuesday and it does not sound any better with the new snow.

what kind of distance would we be looking at if we drove from Garden City to Monte?

Jas , I hope when you got home you told your wife it was one of the best days you had up there, and that she should have been up there..... That would have pissed her off lol

If you come down Logan Canyon it is about 3 hours but if you park on the east side via Wooddruff it would be less than an hour (est). I do not know what the road/snow cover is on that side but you can drive till you hit snow and ride from there.

Take a look at a Utah map.
