Picked up a 09 MTX for a great price. Anyway what are your guys advice on mods. I know on thing I hate the look of the huge tunnel, any ideas there. Also what else do you think, is a got to be done mod? There is alot of things I want to do but what is the mod that has to be done. Thanks for the help guys

Track...swap it out.
Timbersled or kmod rear suspension
Different muffler to drop weight and to make it so your buddies can hear you from more than 10 yards away ;)
Those are pretty much what I have seen as a "must" on the nytro
Congrats on the new sled!

1:Track (PowderClaw 90duro HCR)
2:Oft Relocator
3:Timbersled mtn tamer
4:FoxFloat-2 shocks up front

ntm

I too have a 09 MTX. I used the Skinz Tunnel kit to trim up the tunnel. It made a huge difference on deep powder days and looks so much better as I lost almost two inches off the bottom edge of the tunnel.

Also lose the sway bar and change the front shocks. I used the Fox Float X. It was like a whole new sled.

Other Mods:
Challenger Extreme Track
Better Boards
OFT Steering Post Relocater
Roest Vent Kit
Wildchild Custom Rack
Yoshimura Custom Exhaust (best sounding sled on the mountain)
19t Fastrax Gear

how much better was it with the track? i order the challenger extreme, skinz air frame boards, skinz rear bumper and am trying to get by without the timbersled. i don't want to be stuck all the time like i was last year.

First,
Track
Rear Suspension
Get the bars in a comfy location for YOU. (riser/pivot/relocate/etc)

Prob. highest priority IMO.

Then,
HorsePower
Front Suspension
Other weight reduction mods...
Tunnel and/or running board mods

The track made a big difference. I was going to get a timbersled this year, but there was enough impovement that I am not going to change it till next year.

Those air frame boards are sweet! I might have to scrap my betterboards for a set of those.

thanks guys for the info. Boost is coming next year. Skinz tunnel mod ordered and now looking for the cheapest place to buy a timbersled skid. Can't wait to ride.

Here's a long-a** list I put together last year. It has a lot of the possible upgrades available on the market but I haven't kept it up so it's surely missing a number of cool new products.

Snow Eliminators, Better Boards… can also eliminate a lot of RIDING weight by reducing snow build-up. These products are reasonably priced and they make a big difference, especially on 2008 – 2009 models.

Some aftermarket skis weigh less than Yamaha OEMs but I don’t have figures

track and timbersled rear skid mandatory. i would recommend the challenger extreme over powerclaw i have tried both. the powerclaw didnt work well on my nytro in the powder although it does work well on the cats i dont know why. just my experience.

as for exhaust, think hard before you do an undertunnel exhaust they make the sled much louder i did one and ended up taking it off. i didnt want to be another loud sled that enviros will use as ammo to close riding areas. and especially because exhaust mods on the nytro provide very little power gain regardless of what numbers they are claiming. just subscribe to dynotech and read there to find out that yamaha 4 strokes need the backpressure to make good power. also, the excell header is paper thin.
