Modifying HRP Spindles

My 900 came with HRP spindles and I would like to narrow the ski stance a bit. I was looking at them today and noticed that if i cut off the outside edge of the spindle where the bolt goes through for the ski I could gain 1/2" per side. I would then just need to make spacers for the inside to correct the width. Does this seem like a good idea or did I explain it too poorly. Thanks, Blair

easy deal..

get the "nub" cut off flush with the spindle, and order the spacers from the new IQR's, this will allow you adjust the stance ;)

Holz stop making them like that and now have them lke you said (flush with no nub) and are adjustable. (fyi, holz sold the design to polaris, and they are now stock on new IQR sleds) ;)

good luck.

The Holz style extrusion were used on the IQR's for '09 & '10, they now share the same extrusion as the '11-'13 stock sleds. The major difference being Metric holes and hardware on the stock sleds, and American (SAE) holes & hardware on the IQR race sleds still. They may be CNC clearanced differently for fitment but the raw extrusion is common to at least the PRO RMK and the IQR's, I have not dug any deeper than that.

If someone is in the know of the subtile machining / geometry changes in the spindle as the IQ-IQ RAW-Dragon-PRO front suspension evolved it would make for an educational post. Even the CMX spin off and it's geometry advantages or disadvantages for different riding styles and terrain would be enlightening and enjoyable. IMO
