Modifying/cutting airbox on KTM 300 for Velocity Intake, tips/suggestions welcomed

All the following have been installed and the installation has been verified and the KTM 300 is now ALL SYSTEMS GO!

38mm Smartcarb has been installed. The SC is a sweet piece. That it has been bolt and go has been fantastic. Bike starts, idles and runs just perfectly. Good riddance to jets and jetting.

The PST carb heater just clamped right on to the SC and the Thermobob was installed and the lines run to the carb heater so that along with the carburetor PST jacket, we should NOT have any issues with carb icing this upcoming season. The PST velocity intake went on the back and it too, is a nice piece.

The bike runs so nicely, right from clutch-out and all through the powerband. My 12 year old nephew in law is riding the bike and loving it as it will be his snowbike for the upcoming season and he is beyond psyched. We had spent hours riding on some hardpack and getting our groove on as riding on hardpack is like 100 times harder than riding in powder so once we get back to the powder, it will be like a walk in the park as compared to all the fighting and leaning on the hard-stuff.

My BIL did say that he definitely prefers the 450 power over the 300 in and on the snow. He does like the 300 on the dirt but loves the 450 on the snow due to the instant torque and the increased torque throughout the powerband.

I also relocated the battery on my ktm. Fortunately, the yeti has a battery made space just in front of gas can. I wanted easier access to the l ion battery. Connected with quick connects (trailer/plow type, also used by speedcell batteries) so the battery can be taken inside on cold nights if needed.

I might start looking for a new battery mount as it seems that the brand new "5"-series battery, which is smaller than a "7"-series, is not enough to get the bike started in the cold. It will get the bike started pretty easily once the bike is warm or hot but not from a dead-cold.

Once started, the bike now idles and runs perfectly.
