i have a 154 xp with powdermax track
has anyone ever cut off every second lug to see the performance

i dont care about the trail ride but more interested in track speed and weight loss

i mostly powder ride hills and meadows

i think there may be more vibration on hard pack but maybe more to gain for the type of riding i do

and second has anyone ported with smaller holes the outside part of the track

im willing to give up long term durability for ultimate performance

any thoughts from experience?

thanks

I cut every 5th paddle off a Challenger track and noticed no difference in climbing, But engine RPM went up 200 on the hard pack. I also ported it with 2 down the ctr. Another fellow cut every 3 rd off the ctr. lugs, Same thing. These are 2.52 pitch tracks and have too many paddles as compared to the 3" pitch we were trying to duplicate. Also trying to take a larger bite of the snow rather than trying to chop it to bits 2.5" apart and shoving it out the back. Just alternate the removal and plan out which ones to remove, Just don't go to wild at first, Hard to put back on! I am going to a 3" pitch so I will put no further work into this track.

Good question. I've been asking the same thing for a few years!!! I haven't heard from too many guys that have tried it. I was thinking of trimming every other lug on my 2.5 Extreme to 2.25 for the same reasons you mentioned.
