MN Snow Conditions

pics loading, I said screw it and ran out and then grabbed ice cold Schmidt to warm up.

Man I hate snow when it's windy. And since this craphole corner of the state is nothing but open damn fields for miles, IT'S ALWAYS WINDY:mad:

Now if these drifts were on a certain couple lakes and my sled was done....well I'd be on tank 3 or 4 of gas for the day.

this morning around 8

where my drive to work stopped....twice. spin through the pow and hit glaze, equals no forward go.

this drift was knee high around 8, then balls high around 1. Now it's gotta be chest high on my 5'8"

X those drifts are begging to be hit. Who cares that there is a house close by. They need to be busted!!:D

my neighbor likes to take his old XLT around the houses....F-head all ready flattened my down spout when we had 2 inches. I'm not against sledding, obviously, but when he thinks it's OK to fire up that old triple at 10pm with my kids sleeping, well he won't be getting another time without a very harsh word. Plus he thinks it's OK to go all across my yard, I went all last year with skeg marks on my driveway:mad:

The very same reason for moving out of the 'burbs back in 2003, frickin' neighbors!!!! Go back North X-Rated, I got lucky and bought a 40 acre Hobby Farm, no neighbors, plenty of Deer and other animals, and right off the trail system!!! Oh yah, 45 minutes to McGregor!!!

I finally have the wife convinced she could live up north and hour from all major shopping. It's just this stupid house I owe money on.....and that job deal, need one of those. Still maybe just maybe someday soon....still not sure I would want my kids going to ISD #4 though....

But if I could, boy oh boy 87 acres with only my parents, grandma and one stupid uncle during the week. Riding whenever and where ever

Where's the best place to ride right now in Minnesota? Anything close to the South Dakota border?

In the Virginia area we only have 3 inches on the ground currently. What a huge difference from last year where it snowed everyday in December. Planning a day trip to Ironwood for next weekend just to get the spider webs off the sleds.

Christmas Snow!

It looks like Santa is bringing lots of snow for Christmas. We should have some great riding by Saturday & Sunday. This was from johndee.com this morning:
1-4 DAY FORECAST:

The big storm to impact the Plains and Midwest in the coming day’s is getting itself better organized in TX at the moment and will be heading to the north-northeast in the coming days.

The models remain in reasonably good agreement on the track of this low and I still do not expect any major surprises from here on out, but that does not mean we are done with some minor tweaks to the forecast from here on out either.

The heaviest snows still look to fall from eastern NE into the eastern Dakotas, much of MN, far NW IA and into far northwest WI and the extreme western UP. Totals in these areas easily look to be in the 10-15" range and I would not be surprised to see many locales come back with totals in the 15-20" range, with some 2 foot plus totals as well.

I've been plowing steady for two days.

We got a couple feet of heavy wet snow. I have a small JD tractor loader. The neighbors couldn't touch it with their atvs and snowblowers. So I've been busy. After some touch-up plowing this morn. I'm firing up the King Cat. I have eight foot banks all arround my driveways and parking areas. Christmas for us was delayed til today.

Time for some parking lot racing??????????

All kidding aside, the snow sucks here. 50 miles north of Mpls and it was 34* and mixed snow and rain all day yesterday.

And the weather service said on Thursday night that it would compare to 1991 Halloween storm. Yeah, right.

edge

im right on the edge of the good snow. dang. oh well short 10 mile drive west would fix that if i had a sled running and a leg that wasnt broke.
weird thing was there was no wind the whole time. probably got 6-9 " here but 15" 10 miles west.
bust out my jag i guess if i get real itchy

Like high time said snow is wet and heavy. Got a little over 20" with the storm in Esko. I can only imagine how much we would have gotten if the temps had been about 10 degrees colder. Either way at least I was able to get a few miles on the new M8...

I can't say for sure what the total snow is but it looks like a little under a foot here in Brainerd and still spitting some.

Hopefully the groomers can get this stuff packed into some of the holes in the swamps.

Enough that a guy on a xlt managed to plant it nipples north next the the phone ped I was working in today. Man, them old tanks are heavy!!

Ridding north of Two Harbors today.

Not much near the Big lake but, over the hill there's a lot.
