MMMMKAAAY... Shoes, or no shoes in the house?

As some of you are well aware of, i'm Canadian. We take out shoes off at the door. I even feel bad walking into a store with muddy boots on.

Sooo, a few years ago, I had the opportunity to work with some Colorado boys up here. Great guys. Anyways, they didn't take thier shoes off in one of the guys' houses up here. Is this a common deal for y'all?

I'm taking a poll. Shoes on or off? And, if on, what about winter, etc?

This has bugged me forever. Time to get a straight answer....

Can you tell i'm incredibly bored tonight?

I prefer off in my house, but have always worn them at my parents.

I say go with "when in rome"

always on in my house.[i have camoflage carpet:D ]off in my oladys house[ she would make me clean hers if i didnt:mad:]

K, for those of you that say YES, WHY, and what do you do in the winter. Do you just roll up with shotty boots, and wheel in there with no regard for the carpets?

So, do y'all actually spend time in your house with your shoes on? Like, watch tv and whatnot? Somebody might seriously have to draw me a picture here....

Like I said, we always grew up wearing them at my parents place. If they are muddy or snow covered, the farthest they go is to the basement stairs to go strip or to the woodbox. Otherwise, yeah just kick back and relax. Course if the feet go up on the furniture the shoes are off.

Usually on.
If they are muddy or wet (snow or rain) they come off at the door, other than that, if you are in my house just relax and don't worry about it.
If the rule at your house is shoes off then just put something at the door to let people know.

There is no set rule as to when you take your shoes off. If you want to wear em, wear em. If you want to take em off, take em off.
I look at it this way, my house if for living in. So chill out and relax.
My neighbor is a fanatic about his house. You don't wear shoes inside, you don't eat anything unless it is at the dining room table or over the sink, etc.. I think he vaccums 3 or 4 times a day. I like to invite him over and leave an empty soda can on the table. Drives him crazy.

We take ours off at the door. However....
Our parents are to the age that it is difficult for them to remove/put on shoes.

Guests are guests.

Besides, the dog doesn't wipe her feet when she comes in, but I do have her
trained to run down basement when she comes in. This trip down & up the
stairs sorta wears the dirt off of her feet.

everyone should just ask, thats what i do, or follow the leader. if owner leaves them on, so do you. If you own the house and take off your shoes, the guest should follow. simple.:D:beer;:beer;:D

as for me, most of the times shoes off, but i have a baby who still is crawling. im in a diffrent boat. before the kid, shoes on in most of the house, unless winter or rain. but i have hardwood through out the house, carpet only in bedrooms and basement.

but j-roc, mud makes you horny?????

If i'm busy, going in/out a lot, i just leave 'em on. Inside for a while I take them off. More comfortable.

Dogs don't wipe their feet too well :(

Shoes off. I wouldnt even think of wearing my shoes inside someones house. Even if the owner says its fine, for me its not and i take them off at the entry way.

But then again I live in AK, so maybe its a northern vs. southern climate thing.

I always take mine off at my place unless I have to quickly run in and grab something. A few years ago I was at a dinner at the president of my colleges house and I must have unknowingly steped in one of his dogs "presents" in the driveway. He insisted that we leave our shoes on. On the way out of his house, I noticed that someone had tracked dog chit everywhere. Upon further inspection, I found out it was me. I felt like a total azzhat.

you can wear em if you want but ....the mop is right by the stairs so ya better learn to use it ....

we leave our dirty shoes out in the porch .....thats where they belong
