Forest Service announced this area opens April 16th but the ski resort announced a day or two later that they are open next weekend. Anyone know if sledders will still be allowed to ride the backside of Stevens this week and next weekend?

Nope, and they are plowing down to dirt day after they close for summer construction. Not much fun this year
Has this been confirmed? I've heard otherwise, but haven't checked myself. Will take a look Friday afternoon.
Check with Bavarian Boondockers on facebook. They have been talking with Stevens Pass and the forest service.

I was there Tuesday and it was open. Forest Service has infomred me they have no intention of closing it even though the front side will be open to skiers this weekend.
Its just the Mill Creek parking lot on the eastside of Stevens. The turnoff for it is in the area where the road is divided between the west bound and east bound traffic. Can't miss it. The trail leaves right out of the parking lot.

Wet n heavy
Was there yesterday. Rained on bottom 1/3 of mountain. Wet heavy mix and 20mph winds up top, bout 10" of heavy slush riding, wasn't great but it was fun, not much more you can ask for that low in elevation 3rd week of April. Stewart's are good , more work to get to though
