milage???

Curious as to what I can expect re milage with a 13 pro rmk 600?
Yes I know it depends on a lot of conditions / riding style / terrain / etc. but what kind of milage can I reasonably expect ..... coming off a Nytro and the small tank meant that extra gas had to be carried and used for a day's riding.

Like you mentioned, it relative to what the conditions are, regardless if you burn a full tank, you are going to one tired guy.

Bottomless deep pinned to the bars all day 6-7 mpg. Easy cruising with the wife 11-12 mpg. Personally I've never needed extra gas.

Hmm, don't know actual MPG, but I rode a '12 Pro RMK all year last year. I spend as much of my day as possible playing in the trees, generally ride for an honest four to five hours or so and never use more than about 8 gallons. I don't recall a single time ever worrying about running out of gas. I bought a gas can and rack and never once used it so I quit carrying it.

(As for the honest comment, a lot of guys say they ride all day but generally don't get to the parking lot until 11, stop for lunch for an hour and are loaded up and gone by 4 - that's not even 4 hours)

rule of thumb for me is...go by the odometer...if your running backcountry for most of the day and your between 80-100 miles....head for home.

more than likely at that mileage your shot anyways

Our longer days in the hills run from 8:30 am to about 7 / 7:30 pm or average 9:00 to 6:00 or between 160 to 180+ km... so on the Nytro the extra fuel was needed.
Just built a rack for the back to strap on a couple of jugs and a pack.

Re the siphon hose - I always carry a piece but its not much use in the backcountry if everyone in the group is on fumes .....
was curious as to miles / km on a full tank?

I've gotten over a hundred miles on a tani on the trails. Average backcountry day is more like 70 miles. An epic day, ran out in 27 miles. In any case, I usually pack a 6 on the pack so as to not cut the day short. There are even trips where we pack 3 6 gallon cans each. Those days you are shot when you hit the truck lol

I would guess average trail riding around 12-16 MPG. Aggressive deep powder mountain riding? Who the hell knows. :face-icon-small-con

Put gas, oil, in sled. Pull the rope. Pin the throttle, and go have fun.
Screw the MPG! I think that is what the owners manual says. :face-icon-small-dis

All I ride is in the back country and I don't think I have ever seen a time when someone else wasn't carring extra gas.

ditch/field riding mine in the flats i got 45 miles to half a tank on my 14 800. Now i dont know the exact gallons..... just half on the needle. I can verify if i fill it but if i burnt 5 gallons thats 9mpg. I was breaking in, lots of throttle play and wide open quick pulls.

well you sold me on not carrying extra fuel! was going to get the one bag one can MA set up but now just the low pro bag. In the hills we have a big group and about half bring fuel and no one uses it now that they are all pro rmks and xms. Ill just throw a hose siphon in the bag.

for the whole just carry a siphon hose idea, you gotta have some nice friends for that. i dunno about where you ride but around here the goin rate for gas on the mountain is usually about double of retail, just to remind you to be prepared next time.

or else your riding group is a bunch of *******s. easy to borrow gas at the end of the day from someone that doesnt need it and refill the can for him. like people are saying never need it but siphons for the maybe one time that year.

I do carry a siphon hose for emergencies. I carry 8' of 3/8'' clear vinyl and to keep it clean I use a coupler that I then put both ends of the hose into. That way no water or dirt can get in and if you do have to use it no gas gets out when you put it back in your bag.

We have used it in situations where everyone is running on fumes but maybe one guy didn't ride as hard and still has some left. We also had a situation two years ago where my sister and her boyfriend filled up the night before, got about nine miles from the trailhead and then ran out of gas because someone had stolen all theirs during the night. Who checks their gas gauge when they are leaving the parking lot when they know they had just filled them up? The boyfriend ran out first by the way and it literally took us about 45 minutes of fiddling with the damn thing before someone thought to see if it had any gas in it!!! Grr!

is that part of obama care?:face-icon-small-win

sorry, just being funny and couldn't resist. to each their own. like you, i haven't needed more than my tank and do carry some tubing just in case. the only time my group needs one is early season. usually, someone didn't take care of their end of season maintenance and they were trying to run out the old gas. it starts out as us saying we're just going to stay on the roads and have a look around. a few hours later we are 10-20 miles back and someone is looking at their gauge. :face-icon-small-sad

Jeez! You must ride with us!!!

There is no such thing as "we're just gonna ride the roads". I can never quite stick to that commitment! :face-icon-small-coo

Can you say "broken A-arms - AGAIN? "

when i was stock i got around 4mpg in early season powder on my 600. got that for around 3 tanks. turbo is about the same
