My guess the two people in the front seat had their hoods on flying instruments only for training... I base this on my 40 years (ago) experience from the back seat UH1, where one pilot would train wearing a hood (blinders) and fly from instruments only; where the other pilot and crew were heads up and making sure we were not flying into something
