Melting side panels on XP

Someone I know bought an XP from a local dealer, He got them to include and install in a lightweight can. it is just painted black.
The last ride, 4th day riding on the machine, he noticed that the side panel and bellypan were melting, it plastic welded the side panel to the lower.. LOL

I was wondeing if anyone has had this Experience, I know it is a local jobby can, so I am suspecting it is an isolated thing. Anyone have any melting going on?

I know vents are in need, but it should not do it this bad.

What have you used? and please tell me your experience.:D

cuso, my stock can melted my tinfoil foam!!! I trimed it up and put in vents, no pblm now.. they run the 800R real hot so they meet emisions. Thats what I heard..

Exhaust can't be any hotter than the previous years.. The pistons are still out of Aluminum no??:face-icon-small-con

Anyone else have a melting problem?

I just want to make sure that it is just the can. Vents are great, and they will go in, but if the can is too close to the plastic by design... plugged vents will make it melt again.

Marcuso---Powderboy is running a "thing" in his XP with no issues, also Steel Dreams has 5 XP's with the 888 kit and "things" on them with no melting probs either.

Just FYI for ya buddy.

H20SKE...

HPS can with small abount of venting, and zero problems. Had the primary starting to rub on the other side from laying it over, but hasn't worn through. Haven't heard of any other sleds melting the plastic from the can.

No problems here.

Flat Black TSS Can.

Run the P_SS out of the sled every ride and no problems

Black can??

Just got a aluminumized can for mine and it is not that hot for that reason. Black is a perfect emitter of thermal radiation so I would paint your can with high temp silver and or wrap it with aluminum foil and see what happens. Retired engineer.
