MDS Turbo weights!!!!!!

Just got back tonight from testing PCV maps for some 11 M8 stuff and the all new MDS turbo weights. Very aggressive profile and these weights will be available soon, but in very limited supply for this season. I am pulling about 5 grams more weight than conventional weights and building boost sooner as these weights load the engine in a more aggressive manner than a standard profile.

I will have setups for 4,6,8, and 10lbs of boost now and will be working up from there.

PM me if you have questions.

Cool was wondering when the turbo weights from MDS would come out, how much?

We are testing these weights and they do start to load the engine a lot sooner then stock weights, which helps with the low end bog in the trees. The weights seem to work very well they will take some adjustments to fit a personal preference. We are playing with some different springs for personal prefference. We were seeing about 8100 rpm and 56mph track speed with 7# of boost. Will keep testing. This testing is all done with stock secondary.

Yes, I have found the 100-310 primary spring to work best for our elevation. Also found 36 degree for 4-6 lbs of boost 39 for 6-9 and 45 for 10-12 for right now.

RS, what kind of track speeds are you seeing with those helix's,

At 6lbs of boost I went from 42-43mph track speed with twisted clutching to 51-52mph track speed with MDS turbo weights and stock secondary, everything else the same. Held RPM better and clutches wear so cool I had to hold my hand on them to tell if they where warm. I changed the clutching on the hill same day, so there where no other factors. It also comes into the power very smooth. This is the real deal, I went from sidehilling over the top to pointing it straight up and pulling a wheelie over top. Still testing to see if there is more.

I will try and have a comprehensive breakdown of trackspeed and helix/weight combos in about a week. I will report as I get info.

How would these weights compare to the CPC turbo mag weights?

Can't say, never ran the weights, you can always try these with the money back guaranty you wont be out anything.

Well, I was just curious. I have to go to Cutler's tomorrow to pick up a friend's sled so I was going to pick up a set of their adjustable turbo weights and try them out.

Bump.

Does MDS have a weight recomendation for 12 psi?

If so are the weights available to ship this week? I'd like to have them for the Co 4M ride next week as I'm currently over-reving my 80g cat weights at 11 psi and want to run 12 psi :)

275 that pricey

I thought mine at 200 for adjustable turbo weights was a lot. The other thing that blows me away is how many people out there are running stick weights in there turbos. Guys running 89 gram cat weights and I am running 81 heavy tipped turbo weights and still over reviing at 8 lb of boost on my 11 m8 and also running a straight 44. Well like they say more than one way to skin a cat.

mds weights

Can some one send a pic of these weights do not know if I have ever seen them.

So... the other question again... can the turbo version of the MDS be run with a torsional secondary?

I've got a full cutler setup now & really like how it works, but with a $$back guarantee, heck, I'm up for trying something else. Not much harm gonna come from that. Not going to waste my time if we're pretty sure they're not ideal together though.

The turbo weights are a little different but close,

Backcoutnry, so if a straight compression style helix with these weights worked better would you use it. You may have to do some real tuning with a torsional to know one way or another.

keep an eye on the set screw ive seen the set screw back out and wipe out a clutch. It gouged the side of spider and the weight

Well, I'm hoping that someone who knows more than me will do that tuning & find a good setup, but no, I won't go back to that POS compression setup. The fact that there's no adjustment, the fact that you need special tools to remove the helix, the fact that the spring is a PITA to remove... I see no reason to go BACK to that crap design.

Performance aside, there are reasons that people came up with torsional secondary setups for theses sleds. I've run sleds with & without them & they make a big difference in a number of ways, I'm just not willing to go back to that pitiful compression setup.

42 mph with a turbo???????? I hope you are over 350 lbs using a 174 track and are at 14,000 feet alt if you are only getting 42 mph?
