MCX Running Rich???

My buddy bought a used Nytro with a 240 MCX kit on it. He took it out today (Northwest Iowa) for a test ride and he says its running around 10 on the air/fuel guage @ 12 lbs. That seems to be a little rich doesn't it? He's not sure if that is fine or if something isn't quite right and neither am I. He just installed a new boost controller today. My understanding is that it was an early MCX kit (2008) and has the external fuel pump on it. He was told it is a 240 kit and not a 270 but who knows??

Is something wrong or is that to be expected? What should he look into?

Thanks.

270 kit turn it up. the early kit came with everything, capable of 18 lbs. run good fuel though

Turning boost up doesen't solve the rich condition @ 12 lbs tho,
Maybe a little upgrade of the fuel map and turning up the boost is the ticket? :).

Upgrade Fuel Map?

TBird,

How would he go about upgrading the fuel map? I assume he could just send it somewhere to get it reprogrammed? Is there a place in the US that can do this or does he have to send it back to MCX?

Thanks for the help guys.

Yepp, should be fast return,
If my memory serves me right the early map was really rich, so with a reprogram the issue should be solved,
anyone with first hand experience that can add some light?

Yes i recommend you to send it in and get a new 270 map then you can ask them for a map to 280 hp but remember to buy some gooood fuel :)
