mcx control box vs rapid bike vs .....

For those running mcx kits I was wondering what would be the best bang for your buck?

http://www.mc-xpress.com/

http://web.dimsport.com/rapidbike/rapidbikeindex.php

etc.

Hi,
I have both MCX display and RapidBike 3 in my Apex, and because i didn't have lambda before MCX display is by far best bang for the buck = shows all vital data, boost, lambda, afr, tps, rpm, a.s.o. AND have logging capabilities for countless of runs, and can change fuel maps (for MCX injectors) and boost maps (electronic boost controller) it makes it well worth the money.
RapidBike 3 also works good, above all i can subtract fuel before boost which makes my sled run more crisp and with better throttle response.
And i believe that advancing timing before boost also contributed to that, and be able to retard timing when boost rises also feels right!
I don't regret buying any of them, but if i would buy only one of them it would be MCX display, mainly for logging capabilities and lambda!

Just seems the mcx display box doesnt receive much attention. I wonder if is because of the larger price tag.

Like T-bird mentioned if you add up all the components that would give the amount of data/tuning the price would be comparable.

Seems most mcx riders dont want to tune or adjust their mapping? Mostly getting a feel for what others that have had experience with the display. I keep flip flopping over whether or not I should pull the trigger on it.

Sure, i could have bought separate lambda and boost instruments, and boost adjusters instead of MCX display, but then i would have to sacrifice logging, and i can say that i appreciate logging very very much, 1. Way easier to check boost after a run not while running. 2. With Rapid Bike 3 logging is even more useful, i have lambda spot on, it took several runs before i got there but without logging it is almost impossible. Logging can also be a little frustrating, without being able to check real data you don't know if you're off in certain rpm or boost, with logging you know, and i am such i can't know i'm off without do something about it, therefor it has been a lot of tuning :-).

I thought if you had the mcx display there was no need for rapid bike? Maybe I am missing something? Cant you record your data on the mcx display, upload to the laptop adjust setting and reload new maps?

Because MCX have a completely separate system for fuel the MCX display only adjusts those injectors, while RB3 adjusts stock injectors, they are two separate systems, and thats why i have both, i want to be able to adjust settings both off boost and on boost, maybe overkill, but w.t.h. we live only once.
Yupp, thats exactly what you can do, you get perfect control of everything going on, i also often use logging when i adjust the clutches for example, you have absolutely track off what rpm you have on certain boost levels.
If you already have lambda and boost instruments and can live without being able to adjust the electronic boost controller and logging you might be better off with an RB3 or Dynojet PowerCommander 3 (two systems similar with each other) i know i wouldn't bought the MCX display if i already had those, but you asked for the best bang for buck, and you get alot with the MCX display, but the RB3 or PC3 are very good 2, only diffrent.

Thanks for the info........it is now becoming clearer about what they do.

I am running the Power commander with timing control on my MCX Nytro with a AEM wideband. This gives you the best of both worlds, you can clean up the bottom end(no boost) and you can also add fuel through out the mapping if it is lean in certain RPM and Throttle positions. You can also add timing on the bottom end and retard timing under boost. One could get the multi function hub which will sense boost allowing you to fine tune fuel under boost.

The MCX display can only adjust the boost fuel so your bottom end is rich and you can do nothing about it.

I agree to a certain point, but you can not say "This gives you the best of both worlds" because it's not really true, if you have an RB3 or PC3 you don't need the MCX display to adjust fuel, but you miss out logging and electronic boost controller!

And to clean out bottom (no boost) you can lower the fuel preassure.

But without RB3 or PC3 you loose ability to adjust ignition, to be fair it's hard to feel the diffrence when add timing off boost and retard on boost.
But when you put it all together, tuning fuel and ignition, you definitively notice the diffrence!
