McCain tucks tail and runs

But I dont buy into credit period. I pay cash and if I dont have the money something costs I cant buy it. Credit will be the undoing of us all.

Very good point... I find it very interesting that the average american is in the same situation as the govt., in too much debt. If the govt got out of debt, would we see the average american out of debt too? I wonder which one comes first in the change in thought about finances and debt...

You do know this isn't a dictatorship, right? The president doesn't run the country, congress does...

The presidential position has turned into a scapegoat for congress to keep doing business as usual, deflecting blame upwards. Yes the president is the leader of the executive branch, but it is only 1 of three branches, the other two have quite a bit of power, with the legislative branch having the most IMO.....

The outcome of the presidential race will have an impact on the US, but not to the extent everyone seems to make it out to be.....

Exactly, but it is funny how the Democrats blame all our financial woes on Bush when things really started to go downhill faster with a Democraticly led Congress. Things were heading south before the Democrats controlled Congress, but it went much faster when they gained control.

They all blame if they can find an easy target.. The financial time constants (amount of time between making a change and seeing its effect) are quite large and I would argue it is on the year time scale at a minimum from when changes in policy/control are reflected in the economy... note responses to consumer confidence happen much faster, but these are emotional responses....

Oh, and Democrats are a majority yes, but they don't control congress... takes 2/3 to do that, and they don't have it. So while they have more clout, they don't get a free pass for everything, it takes a bunch of liberal republicans to do that.

I think that it doesn't matter if they are Dems or GOP, most of them are there for "what's in it for me." It is hard to find a totally honest person in politics these days.

You're all missing the point. The key here is McCain SUSPENDED his campain so we can come together as Americans. (ie.. no attacking the other side) And why would someone do this in the middle of a close race? Some people really do put country first.

that is a very insperational post!!
Here is my earlier post on the matter.

"If he can't do both, how is he going to run the country??
No matter who you vote for this does not make McCain look good."

"I'm referring to McCain.
There is no reputable news indicating that Obama is not working on the financial crisis. In this day and age there is no reason why you have to go to Washington to deal with this issue. Seems an Archaic move on McCain's part. I don't think an Archaic approach to solving problems will sit well with some voters. I'm sure it's a political move and his camp believes it will help him. And liekwise for Obama's camp.
The people who are already going to vote for him love the move. Fence sitter might not."

I didn't say that. I just pointed out how it could be perceived. However by not doing the debate it leave that open for criticism. Some will align themselves with his choice some won't. It might win him some votes, it might not.

Perception is everything. I personally think it doesn’t look good for him to not participate in the scheduled debate. That is just me.

What makes you think he can't do both?

The only people thats really pissed about Mccain rescheduleing the debates, is the liberal media. which the original poster of this thread seams to buys into their B.S.
I highly doubt Mccain would have any issues debating Barry on foreign policy.
And in fact Mccain and President Bush Have been calling for more oversight on freddy and fany for awhile now and was Blocked by the democrats.
Why has there been no hearings on why these companys were run into the ground in enron style fashion???? Because it has the democrats fingers print all over it.

Barry himself said that this is the worst financial disaster since the great depression, than he says uh uh uh if uh I uh can be uh of any help uh call me uh I'll be there. And you retards talk about perception?
What looks bad is we are facing a potential financial disaster and Barry once again doesn't know what to do.

I would ask Mississippt State, since they have 5.5 million into the debate tomorrow, how they feel about McCain canceling.

But we all know he will show up anyway ;)

You might want to note the topic of discussion before you start calling people retards!!!!:D:D:D
I'm surely not pissed, just throwing my .02 on the TOPIC.

Also, if this had Dem. prints all over it it would be greatest day for the GOP. I haven't seen it plastered across every news publication. So I call BS.
I'm not casting stones on any party, just pointing something out.

For those who think Obama is just sitting on his hand preparing for the debates.

What this proves to me is the average American is Stoooppiidd when it come to money management. We want everything now and if it all goes to sheet we'll deal with it then. No forethought!! NONE!

Why is McCain running when both him and Osama are in Washington meeting with the President?

No....he is running from the debate and the campaign and using having to go to Washington as an excuse.

But as you both pointed out Obama has the ability to do both, since he is still attending the debate tomorrow

You should read the entire thread before you comment on what I said. I just read that he was meeting in Washington with B and M to point out that he isn't just sitting on his hands like many believe when it comes to the $$ crisis. Just pointing that out. I wasn't aware of it. I guess that's why they call it news:o
You said that McCain was running because he went to Washington to work on the bailout when both McCain and Obama are in Washington. So is Obama running from the debate also?
