Max speed of 42Mph...?

So according to my sled it tops out at about 42 Mph. I recently took it in to the dealer for a "Checkup" and they said all was good, all the updates were current etc. So I took it out the other day behind my house and we got a service road that's long and straight and flat. Pegged it out for a good 10-15 seconds or so idk in probably 8-10in of fluff but it said 42 maxxed out. Obviously I was going much faster than 42, still havent got around to GPSing it yet nor do I really care about top speed on this sled but it does have me curious. I'd guesstimate I was doing about 75-80. Its been like this from day one and I assumed it was the recall for the half read speedo thing that I had read about but they said it was current and I made sure they understood what I was talking about and they said it was good. Sooooo whats the deal? Not really concerning me just curious.

Sounds like dealer dropped the ball, you need the recall/update on speedo.
Didn't you have a post about dealer charging you a lot of money to give your sled the once over on things that should have been under warranty?
Any other dealers that might treat you better?

they ended up dropping the bill drastically. whoever wrote the bill was on autopilot and added a bunch of stuff that didnt need to be on there. I'm pretty confident in this dealer and they usually treat me well. How are the updates delivered? I figured via the digital wrench no? Cause thats what they used to check out the tps and reverse as well as check for any buried codes.

Thought it was a TSB that affected a certain range of VIN's. I just know about it from hearing about it on S/W.

My advice, keep your eye on your dealer, they've made mistakes already.

Needs software update/reflash

Is it a 2016 holdover? Mine did the same thing. The odometer will also be about half off. All it needs is a software update/reflash. I asked the dealer when I picked it up if this was checked and they assured me it was. This is a known issue on some 2016s. Of course after the first couple of rides it was back to get this fixed. You should also check the lower front coolant line at the bottom of the engine. It could be rubbing a hole. Mine was to the cords in 120 miles. It is sad what you get for all that money these days. I am on the hunt for a good dealer and will ride what they sale. The ride is worth it though when you get the bugs worked out. :)

I bought it last year, but it is a 2016 and I already got the coolant line fixed. Thanks tho! and honestly Idk that I really want it fixed, cause I figured it does like you said.... half the mileage lol.

FWIW the Digital wrench is NOT accurate enough to read / set the TPS correctly. You are far better off not having a dealer touch the sled and learn to do everything yourself. As far as the TPS goes; there is an awesome thread posted on here (and likely a sticky in the AXYS / PRO Ride Tech section).

well my sled hasnt had any of the TPS problems reported on here but I figured since it's in I'd have them check it. Im not too worried about it. Sled rips good, just the speedo is off, but thats whatever haha
