Yep, he wasnt paying attention, braked at the last minute over a windlip, he went over the handlebars and the sled did a front flip and the end of the tunnel landed on his head!
Good question about the helmet not done up tight, ill ask him!! 
Wicked, wicked injury! Thanks for sharing. I love this stuff. Ahh, I can just smell the fine smells of the emergency room now... 17 stitches=lucky and some sweet scars with which to impress the ladies with later...
And this folks is why you ride with docs and surgeons...they bring crazy glue, stitches, and staples into the field and can sign a death certificate
(I should note that psychiatrists-though technically docs-may not be the best option for a procedure involving needles)
By the way, crazy glue was a medical invention for the space program...one of the better byproducts of the billions we have dumped into that program...

i have showed this to 3 docs now and they all agree that he was way lucky that he didn't severe his facial nerve...much less paralyze himself from the force his head took on! Tough dude...
