Massacre at Owls Head

Just goes to show that even the best riders make mistakes when not paying attention and nearly cost them their lives!!

A few mates of mine went sledding the other week, doing some highmarking and on the way down one mate wasnt paying attention to a small windlip and tomahawked his sled (shoulda braap'ed more). Helmet saved his life but is broken in half. 17 stitches later and a week of R&R and hes ready for one more ride this weekend hopefully!!

When someone was pushing it with there finger, that was nasty.
Thinking I should start packing a little better first aid kit and a bunch of super glue. Glad he's ok.

Zox helmets - I hated selling them with a passion.
$14,000 Machine - Check
$100 Helmet - Check

When a helmet flexes in your arms when holding it with one hand(Brand new) - time to invest in a better quality helmet.

Glad he's good to go, video was kinda sick but then again I woulda been that guy poking the flesh in the video myself, so I can't really comment on that hahaha. Glad he's ok though.

WOW.

So what did the damage to his face? Did I see correctly that it was the gas rack?

Make me want to build a little better gas rack (mines similar to his), even if you got bucked off and landed on it, it would hurt.

The helmet really looks bad.

But I wonder was the major issue it wasn't strapped on?

Looks like the nasty gash on his temple would have happened if the helmet slipped because it wasn't on tight.

Agree get a good quality helmet.

Thunder

That's a big reason I avoid sharp edges on my sled (wrap around guards, no gas rack, gauges in the hood...) but the quality of the bucket wasn't the issue here, it was implementation. Look at where he was impacted, that spot on the hemmit isn't damaged, it came off. The $1000 35 lb helmut won't do squat if it's not on right.

I wear a DH helmet & won't wear one of those ungodly heavy pigs some people wear anytime soon. Not worth the neck injuries!!!:D

Super Glue aint going to fix a Gash like that! OUCH!

You would be surprised, but I prob wouldn't use it for that, if you super glue its real easy to leave a nasty scare unless you do it just right. You can use the super glue to hold bandages on and keep things in place.

Doctors use Krazy Glue ALL the time for soutures (sp?)

And I KNOW for a fact that "medical grade" Krazy Glue is NO different than Ace Hardware Krazy Glue. SAME STUFF.
