The Doo turbo works amazingly well stock, super clean and responsive, so why mess with a good thing right? Finally decided to download a stage one low 94 octane Maptun tune in my sled, got lots of feedback from trusted sources and having some experience on a G4 with A maptun installed, I decided to give it a try on my G5 We downloaded the tune right in my Field to get a true before and after. After the install I went for a rip and the sled was immediately different, ok cool, let’s add some weight now, the sled pulled harder yet.
The next day I went to the mountains to give it a true test and tune, going up the trail the sled ran very clean, almost like stock but cleaner, and just as responsive. I found my favourite test hill which had lots of fresh snow on it, and let her eat. Yep it’s noticeably faster, added more weight and it got faster yet. The guys I was with wanted to line up and race, one was on a stock 2024 154 expert turbo. I staged about 4 sled lengths behind him, He took off first and once his 154 wheelie ended I grabbed a handful of throttle and caught him 3/4 up the hill.
I can honestly say in that snow I gained a honest 5mph trackspeed before ground speed took over.
Now a disclaimer remember Observed speedometer speed readings are subjective to “at the time taken” including observed conditions, along with sled setup, clutching (I am running Ibackshift clutching) , suspension setup etc. I was seeing a constant 65-70mph climbing speed, held it to the bar longer and seen 75mph, I do not consider the hill I was on very long, steep yes. I let the other guys try my sled and they were impressed as well.
The sled ran flawless all day, we put 60miles on, lucky to have a short trail ride in the zone, but the climb is steep, so no Detonation flags, and I didn’t expect any. It’s a very clean tune, aside from the power increase, it runs just as clean or cleaner than stock. The engine sounds healthier, like a growly pissed off sound to it, over the stock 154 turbo I could compare it to. I like it, and it pulls on your arms hard, lots of fun.
