Seatbelts are mandatory in BC too, but how many people are killed each year from not wearing them!!!!! It is up to the individual/groups to ensure you take every precaution to safeguard yourselves. The av the same day here in Chetwynd that killed one and buried 5 was a small 100 meter high 30 degree slope that everyone of us here would have probably climbed up and over!!! Take some training, wear the gear, and ride smart and safe!!!
