kgmi@kgmi.com

WHATCOM COUNTY, Wash. -- Search and Rescue volunteers recovered the body of a Redmond man Sunday near Bear Paw Mountain, just north of the Mount Baker Highway.

Whatcom County Sheriff’s Deputy Mark Jilk said officers responded to reports of an injured snowmobiler Saturday night.

Volunteer searchers found the body of 48-year-old Craig Hasenoehrl in a steep gully Sunday morning.

Jilk said Hasenoehrl may have died from a medical condition.

Ya that sucks, there has to be more to the story, who knows this guy, I can't believe he was up there by himself. Who reported him missing and when, how is it that we are hearing about it after the fact, is there something that we could have done to help? He was found at the bottom of a gully, where were his riding buddies? Alot of questions, can anybody answer them? Condolences to the family, R.I.P. Craig

He was riding with at least one buddy. Buddy found him slumped off the sled already blue. No signs of impact. Two of them performed CPR to no avail.

RIP, but if you have to go, it was his best ride before the ultimate ride.

I rode with Craig on many occasions and several times this year. He was a great mountain rider, a nice guy and he will be missed. My other good friend was the one riding with him when he noticed something wrong. Something massive happened, either a heart attack, or brain hemorrage etc. I don't think anyone knows the exact cause yet. He was only 48 years old and in very good shape. It was a really sad deal and was totally unexpected. :face-icon-small-sad

For those of you that may have known him, his funeral is tomorrow, Wednesday May 12 at 3:00 pm at St. Mary of the Valley church. The address is 601 W. Columbia in Monroe, WA.

Was it Mr.Quick who was with him?

No it was not MrQuick who was with him. It was another one of our buddies. I wish MrQuick68 and I were riding with them that day so he did not have to deal with it himself.
