make a air intake

x 3..... but I do understand needing to keep it on a budget.

At that point...use the stock airbox and glue/screw an aluminum shield on the bottom to protect the airbox if you blow a belt (you should ONLY be using the 3211115 belt in this sled, IMO, to help guard against a broken crank)

Open the airbox up and remove the air baffles inside... just make sure that you NEVER drop anything into the airbox once the hood is open!!

Just add some SLP venting to the cowl intake in the hood and some flowrites for good clean FRESH air to the motor

You WILL need to use a good side panel vent with the stock airbox to keep the clutches cool (besides having the proper clutch/gearing setup... the stock setup stinks!)

Easy?!.. made plate to cover stock boost box opening with 2.75 pipe sticking up about .75 of an inch (like timbersled etc ) out of scrap aluminum plate @ 1/4 inch thick
Then searched forever.....really, and found on E-bay an intake system for 2000-2003
Saturn S series for $20 in colors or chrome...viola.... less than $ 80 and it is done!

05900.... where does it draw air from?

Under the hood or from the cowl area?

Pics?

I always like outside the box (pun intended) thinking.

Here's a picture of the one I made...it draws air mostly from under the hood but is right behind one of the hood vents so it gets some direct cold air. I have so many vents on my sled that I figure the air under the hood is cool enough. It'll be even cooler once I get a mesh hood:D

Looks alot like Hundo's sits directley behind hood vent. Have enough pipe to move farther back to cowl area if needed and add more vents!!?
With intake air temp sensor only showing about 5* +/_ from no hood.
Ram Air system..?
Will try pics soon.

Is it workin

Rough template and sketch

Here is a stock box mod worth 6-8 HP, depending on other mods. Seel up all holes in box with black RTV and gutted inside. Total build cost, $85.oo

MH. WIll it have any effect if you enlarge the stock holes on the inside of the air box on the intake tube? Will any fuel mods need to be made to do this properly?

Hi.
How did you fasten the flange to the intake? I'm building something similar and so far the only solution i have come up with is riveting it there more or less for good :face-icon-small-dis

Riveted with a good bead of silicone sealer let sit 24hrs and it is tight!

Gutted everything in box and saw little more intake noise, efi should/would compensate for air flow also added flowrite where it alighns with hood vent.
Worked good exceptyou should install vents for clutch cooling in fender

Hey Hundo. What is that wrapping on your pipe and where did you get it? Have an aaeen pipe on another machine and once it gets hot runs poorly even with venting. Did it help keep temps down under the hood? If so how many feet/metres do you think you used.

intake

has anyone tried putting a hole in there hood and just running the filter outside? off couse with a filter cover?

That would work alot like the Turbo intake set ups...but why cut a hole unless you have a turbo??
