M8 starts very hard after modds?

I just put an SLP pipe on my 07 ported M8 and it is now very hard to pull over when it is cold. With a stock pipe it was not even close to this hard to turn over. With the addition of the SLP pipe I am now adding fuel with a BD box. Could it be too rich and gumming things up? After I got it started it seems to run fine. I checked oil consumption and it seems normal for the gas used. Any help?

So you ported your M8 and I would assume you also added a high compression head and new pistons also.???

If that is the case, you are going to have more compression on tight/new pistons. Sounds very normal.

Should loosen up a little after a few miles.

Check manifold for anti freeze. If you have a pinched o ring in the head it will leak and be hard to pull the first time until it starts. Also, in our area the weather has been COLD! and that makes them very difficult to pull the first time until the go through a few revolutions.

It has definitely been cold here too, below zero. Sorry for the stupid question, but what is the manifold? The sled runs well, so I don't think it is extremely rich.

Eric, would I gain more compression with the SLP pipe? I wouldn't think so, but what do I know. Just for comparison my ported M8 is twice as hard to start as my stock M8.

i now when its that cold on my M8 i have to "clunk" through several pulls before i would even be able to give it a full pull on the rope. if you have a way to put it in a warm place and then try and start it?

You could have dropped a piece of silicone in through the exhaust port while you were scraping the cyls clean.
Pull a plug from each cyl and see if it is still hard to pull over.

Temp's below zero will cause any sled to be hard to pull over. The oil is cold and thick. Also condensation forms on the inside of the cylinder walls, when you pull it though the first time it scraps the "ice" off. After a few slow pulls though it will get easier.
