M8 or M8000?

I posted this here because I know what answer I'll get if I post it in the Proclimb area. :)

Is the new M8000 (or 2013 M800) really so much better over a 2010-11 M8 SnoPro that it'd be worth $3000-5000?

I had two M7's, both 05s... got one new, bought the other one used a couple years later, but sold it a few years back when I was in SoCal. Now in the PNW, it's time to get back in the snow. Last year I didn't have any money; this year, I do. I could maybe squeeze to get a new one, but I'm really thinking a nice condition 2010-2011 would be every bit as good.

yes/no/maybe/bueller? :)

Thanks.

Can't go wrong with a m8, reliable and easy to ride. You clearly know the chassis layout, they handle an perform much better then the m7s since they have new parts better suspension ect. Personally I don't even like the proclimb. You can't go wrong if you get the m8 since you know you like it and its cheaper, the proclimb you run into the risk of not liking it, no matter what anybody tells you good or bad you won't know if you like the chassis until you ride one.

m8 with the ho motor, you will be able to go anywhere the proclimbs go and with the money you save you can put towards more mods

Do not own a ProClimb, but go for the M8. No sense in dropping $10k+ on a sled if you're tight on money and the M8 will do anything you're capable of in the hills. There's a reason that the resale is so high on the 10-11 M8's. Just like the M7's they still rock and keep up with the new chassis'.
Plus used mod and replacement parts for M series are dime a dozen.

I've ridden the M1000; didn't care for it. Too nose heavy.

Cool, then I'll definitely keep looking for the M8. I could even do an 09 if I found a nice clean one at a good price, but would prefer the HO motor.

Heck there's an 11 for sale in the classifieds here right now I'd like to grab but won't have my cash for a couple more weeks.

Thanks guys!

Yup, I agree with you. The M1000 I rode was also way too nose heavy as well but, it was a 162". It felt like all 30 extra pounds over the M8 were strapped to the front bumper.

The H.O. motors have had some primary clutch issues. Make sure the one you get has the issue resolved. Also, 09's are a great sled and if you can find one with an SLP pipe it's at 160hp (same as a H.O.). You may even be able to find one like mine with the SLP stage III kit (porting and head work) and then you are at 170 hp. Any piped and ported 09 and earlier sled will be over 160hp. I believe a piped H.O. is right at 170 hp.

The best mods I have done so far are the 2.6" Powerclaw and the SLP pipe. They both just work.

M8

I was in the same boat as you I sold the m1000 and couldn't make up my mind between new or a 10-11 m8. I found a 10 m8 that had all updates done "clutches, bearing" very we'll taken care of also had 162 2.6 powerclaw on it track is brand new. Slp skis, can, updated suspension, anti stab kit, gauge riser, and a few other things. I got it for $6000 with under 1000 miles on it. The way I see it is I just saved myself at least $6000 ill ride it for a year or two and look at the new ones again.

There are great deals out there just watch Craigslist and on here and be ready to jump on it.

I've ridden the '12 153 enough to have a fair opinion of it and didn't like it ( I have an '11 SP 153), but that is purely my OPINION. If I were buying a sled again right now I'd have to take a 10 or 11 over anything newer, especially considering the cost savings. I haven't been around a 13+ enough yet to get a fair comparison but I can tell you that stock for stock an '11 will go anywhere that a '12 will go.

I was looking for a 10 m8 two seasons ago and ended up with a 09 m1000. It was a deal icouldnt refuse 450miles on it slp ,PCV, bags, gas tank and shovel, two gallons of oil for 6500. It was the LE so it had the boss seat and the SLP pipe so it was about 20+lbs lighter than the standard sno pro. That all being said i would still pick up a 2011 m8 if the right deal came along. Road the 11 Sno pro M8 LE and it was great, but the torque and power of the piped M10 is pretty easy to get use to.

I'd Buy a RG Turbo M8- 09 or newer

and just enjoy life., ALSO $6K for the sled listed above is not a great deal. what a Joke.
the 09 m1000 LE W/ 450 miles with full SLP and PC5 for $6.5K that is a great deal

Sure aV8tor but, it's a nose heavy M1000.

What a joke!

You would be much happier with a M8 and your feet won't be numb for a week after riding the sled.

M1000- You just need a little Deltoid muscle-

As long as the track is turning, especially with a Power Claw. I had 2 - m1000 and with the Geo mod sled stayed on top well. and didn't notice it much, but i used to spend a lot of time in the gym. now i need to get back to the gym. My Boosted M8 is hard to keep planted. which is great on the Skags. ha ha.
I'm guessing that is your sled for sell?????????. that is why U thinks it's such a great deal. don't get me wrong it looks like a nice, clean sled. good luck with the sale.
