m7 vs d7 vs rev8

ok so i went out w/ my friend today and this is the first time ive seen him on his m1000 and he ripped it up i was breaking in a d8 for my uncle and the m10 eat me alive but his bro was on an m7 w/ a 153 and it was going better than me on the d8. i am upgrading from my old rmk 600 w/ a 136 this year and i need to konw what is best for boondocking side hilling and climbing. i was having a toughf time getting the d8 on its side but then m sleds seemed to lay right over so what is best

Pick sled you like.

Learn to ride sled.

Adjust riding style to fit selected chassis, mod as needed :)

I think you answered your own question!:face-icon-small-coo

Joking aside, dogmeat is right...whatever you end up on you will learn to ride it. I prefer the M chassis but I've been riding it for a long time. I also like the IQ but think it's a little top heavy for my taste but I could get used to it and be happy. Look for a good dealer and what your buddies are riding. We all ride M's, when my buddy bought a Dragon and it started having problems we had no idea what to do for him. I just had to give him the end of the rope and tow it out.

Ride both and figure it out for yourself. And like said above, man up and ride. All the newer sleds take time to get used to, and the Raw chassis is so easy to ride.

I have a friend with an 09 assault and I am not at all impressed with it, it wont touch my m8. And working on it is such a Pain in the $@!. I'd go m7 for sure( or m8 if you can find a deal, depepnding on budget)

what about an m6 will it smoke the other 600s and will it go were the 800s and 10000s go

Ummmm no. the 600 sucks. Rode a 2010 rental with like 700 miles on it the other day and it had the following issues..

Handles like ****
Feels like a Trailing arm sled
No snap
NOT FUN TO RIDE.
Handel bars are to low
Controls felt cheap
Wind shield breaks easy

IT did take a tree hit VERY well and looks like a easy sled to work on.

Your best bet is a 600 or 700 RMK. Get one that is a 2007 or newer and after about 2 days you will love it. The reason why you like the m-sled is because it handles like your indy.....but is 20 years newer, green, and NOT any faster.

IMO, stay as far way from that sled as you can....Go poo 6 or 7. Then do a doo rev 600 as they are GREAT sleds. I have not been on a new xp-6 but i did like the 05 rev that we owned.

the assault is built for hucking off of 100ft drops or doing 65 ft whips and landing in cases.... not boondocking...

Stiff shocks+widefront end+ short, hard track= Fun sled that will go anywhere your budies go, but you can do 70 ft jumps like your last name is lavallee.

"theres your problem" :face-icon-small-hap

i'm gettin real sick of workin and trouble shootin on that assault, always somthin with that thing. Obviously everyone is going to tell you to buy the sled they ride because they think its the best. The reason I like the M sleds is because they are easy to work on, look under the hood of a dragon or a rev and there is zero room. Also polaris parts are more expensive. I have friends that ride them all and most of them are switching over to cats...

Sorry bud, I'm gonna have to call B S. I agree the M6 is a poor choice but telling him to go Poo over a newer M8 ain't great advice. Their problems the last few years have been growing steadily and the new 8's aren't fixed yet. Hell, look at you, you've hardly got any Poo left on your sled, why's that ? Doo might be a decent choice except for the crappy clutches and stay away from 07's.

The M sleds are excellent choices. Both the M7 and the D7 will go places 700s never used to go and can put the hurt on "not as well ridden" 800s all day long.

Both the M7 and D7 seem to be bulletproof machines. Both are easy to ride, though I prefer the M7 off trail and the D7 on trail. The M7 can be had for a couple grand less than the D7 right now, making it a no brainer for me. I bought an 1100 mile, one owner M7 153 last week for $4000.

I cant speak too much to the Rev. I just see too many failures and too much maint, on the trickiest chassis of the bunch.

Good comments, good advice.

the m7s ive seen go and ridden they make noise and dont really go anywhere i rode a twin piped m7 better but still dosnt have the fun factor/pull of other sleds maybe its the clutching of these motors but they just were not fun for me to ride, kinda the same thing as a d8 if your looking in the 700 class you cant beat a d7 if i thought a m7 was supurior i would say so iam not biased but they are both reliable sleds if i was to choose a reliable sled i would say the m7 as the d7 you never know when the voltage regulator/ecu will burn out?

I've seen M7's so some pretty crazy things, Agreed the M's may not have the arm pull as the other sleds but the way I see it the M motors fail alot less. The polaris and ski doo motors try to crank out as much power as possible resulting in burnt down motors... I still say go with an m7 or m8, I have an 09 m8 with 1000 miles and I havent had a single issue.

Without a doubt, you have to learn to ride what you bought.

I went from an 800 Edge to the M7. I have gone back and forth on them in the same day. There is definately more low end grunt but for me the fun factor is definately with the M7.

I have also ridden the 600raw Poo and I just couldn't ride it the first day. The second day I appreciated it more, but is different than the M7 for sure. Better trail ride, I curse the trails on the M7.

For highmarking, I have outmarked a lot of 800's with the M7. I have switched sleds with those guys and seen them highmark themselves. Not sure where the fun factor is lacking. I know I had fun all weekend waiting for the XP, Edge and Raw sleds to catch up to where I had boondocked through the trees.:face-icon-small-coo

I would get whatever your able to ride/work on best. I say work on, because when your out in the middle of nowhere its nice to be able to fix things instead of having to waste a trip, and tow it out instead of a 1/2hour fix and keep rippin.
