M7 Oiler Draining in Throttle Boddies

I have a 2006 M7 that when summerized and has been sitting for a while the two oil lines that run to the throttle boddies tend to weep oil. I have contacted numerous dealers and none have seen this situation. The sled has less than 2000 miles and no one has an explaination for this. Has anyone seen this happening to their sled ?

Some times it depends on the oil synthetic does it more often/also on the old yamahas it was the oil pump spec --outer body tolerance on the big side and inner valve on the small end of tollerance which I think is your case so over time it"bleeds through" the pump the cats dont have a check valve on their oil line to manifold so it may happen more often on these sleds if they used a check valve that pops off at real low psi this would stop it My 2 cents

Pretty common on the 700 laydown, they spit back into the airbox.
Fill the reservoir, let it sit, if the reservoir stays full, don't worry about it.

Im just cleaning my 06 m7-900 up to get ready for a ride and noticed the same thing. I have about 3000 miles on it. I had a puddle under the sled and was worried the diamond drive was leaking at first. I swapped out my reeds with my lil guy and discovered it was leaking thru the throttle bodies. This is the first time over the summers this has happened to mine. Answer? I dunno either.........

i wouldn't think its so much the lines leaking as over time all two strokes get some "blow by" past the reeds and ends up collecting in the airbox. not sure if this is actuall blow by or just some of the injected oil doesn't quite get mixed enough and collects. as this collects a little more and more until it finally gets to be enough to leak out. have torn apart several air boxes on the M's and all have oil in them. not saying that the injector lines couldn't leak out, but with all the ones i've taken apart they couldn't all be leaking...

Thanks for the help ! But I'm not seeing that this is a blow by issue, it is oil as the sled sits comming up through the lines that are connected from the oiler to the throttle boddies. Surprisingly if let sitting for a while there is a substantial ammount on the floor. The oiler doesn't seem to weep when the sled runs throughout the season but only when it is sitting for the summer or long periods of time. I've traced where the origion of it is comming from the lines # 12 in the diagram. What I really want to know is that if this is happening is this a sign that the oiler maybe wearing out and could fail at some point ? Wouldn't want it to fail and cause a larger problem !

both of my m-7s form a puddle under the sled when stored for the summer...several posts from others have indicated theirs' does also....other than the mess, it's normal....clean it up and ride, the oil pump isn't worn out or broken.....it helps to let the oil reservoir get towards empty when storing it....or put a clamp on the line for the summer, zip tie your key to the clamp so you don't forget...

Those are not check valves, they are bango fittings. It's best to have as little oil as possible in the oil tank over the summer. If your oil pump is not real tight, the oil will seep by and can accually fill your crank case. I had a friend with his 01' doo knock his crank out after the case filled with oil and he acually got it started.

Was just helping a friend out putting a m7 back together and noticed this one had the same problem. It wasn't blow back it was oil leak!

Any more input on this topic?

yup, my m7 had the same issue luckily i got it cleaned out good enough that i didnt grenade the motor.

mine got progressively worse over the last three years, the first summer when i pulled my sled out of storage and started it it would spit all kinds of oil out the pipe but after it cleaned out it ran fine all season. the next summer when i went to pull it out of storage the motor was full of oil and hydrolocked, i had to pull the plugs out and pull the piss out of the rope to get it to clean out then it finally started and as long as i rode it every weekend it was fine. then this summer that just past it was the worst, hydrolocked again and again pulled the plugs and pulled the piss out of it again to where it would pull over and figured it would be fine like the previous year. nope, went out about 2 weeks later and it was hydrolocked again took me 2 days and a couple sets of plugs to get it started and i decided it was time for a new pump. installed the pump, ran it for a bit to make sure the engine was all cleaned out and parked it. it sat for another month month and a half before we finally got enough snow for a test ride and i went out there and it fired right up. so i guess next summer will be the real test but theres probably a good chance your pump is gettin bad, the only problem is the dam little tiny pump cost about $300 bucks.

I just replaced the oil pump on the wifes 06 M7. It was leaking out the back of the pump at the shaft seal.

All is fixed now .....................
