M7 mods. What to do? What not to do?

Im 15 years old. I ride an 06 m7 with some vents and a 2010 seat. for christmas ill be asking for money and my parents said i will probley be looking at about $500. I was wondering what are some mods that dont cost much but look cool? If theres any engine mods that i wont need a fuel controller for i would also like to know those. Anything helps.
Thanks

Some better boards and a timber sled intake. You mite be able to find an 09 M8 Skid that would make an M7 work a lot better.

Performance wise I would say the 10.4 secondary upgrade from BDX is a BIG difference. Being 15 Im sure you want the sled to be a little louder, I would look at a SKinz Ultra-Q or a Super-Q can. I ran one on my M7 and did not lose power + got a sweet bark at wide open throttle after the power valves popped. AMP has a lot of cool billet items, I really liked their rizer on my M7

Here are a couple websites with cool stuff for your wish list:

Good Luck!

For 500.00 get the powerclaw track, that is the best upgrade for the money by far. Will work better than any pipe or intake by a long ways and will not change reliability.

Don't:

SLP twins
BDX Idler wheels

Do:

Diamond drive oil change
2 wheel kit
Shift assist with M8 orange spring
Riser of your choice
Light weight QUIET can
Delrin front end bushing kit
Clutch venting
Better hand grips

Surf the classifieds here, you can find all sorts of goodies.

slp makes a air horn kit moflow makes clutch vents for it and put a aftermarket head (rkt) or have someone shave 10 th off your head

Can you go into detail as to why you don't recommend the SLP twins? I ask because I was thinking of putting them on my M7.

As far as mods, the best ones I've made were the Snow Eliminators and the 2 wheel conversion axle. Factory grips are bogus too, get rid of those.

I have been running a d&d ypipe, single, can, and peak performance head for the last four years on my 05 m7 without fuel controller. I would upgrade the track and clutching first though. Powerclaw if it has attack 20 and rk tech secondary set up. Another thing to think about is upgrading the suspension. Shock revalves may not look cool, but they will make it handle much better and save your body.

y pipe of your choice, but I would look into modding your stock pipe if you want an aftermarket pipe. There was someone doing this just cant remember off the top of my head who it was. But you will need a fuel controller for that. If you want power, as was stated above I would look into an rkt head. Nice power gains for the money and just run 91 octane and you will be fine with out a box.

There is nothing wrong with twins if you take the time to tune, but at 15 I'm sure you just want to pull the rope and put it to the bars. For $500 you can get a head (RKT can reshape your stock one or just get a new billet one) and upgrade to the 10.4 secondary and get your clutching dialed in which lots of people on here can help you with. And if you don't already have the relocation bracket for the skid get that too. Just dial in what you have and you will be impressed.

No V-Force?

Could you expound upon that? I bought a almost new M7 over the summer w/ V-Force3s already installed. The owner said they created a midrange stumble but did well on the topend. Should I go back to stock before winter? Thanks

My experience: bought a used '06 M7 with SLP twins and SLP can, controller, etc. Guy I bought it from only took it to Cooke and loved it. I ride all over including more than a little trail. Also have a stock (engine anyway) '05 M7. With the twins I couldn't keep the temps down on the trail while still having it run good when we hit the steep and deep. From my expereince and what I've seen others say; if you're building a purpose specific sled (like just hill climbing) you can make the twins work well. However, if you're aiming for general purpose, then you either need to constantly tune while riding or forget about them. My $.02

My experience with SLP twins was exactly the same. I was constantly screwing with the Boondocker box trying to keep it from melting down. Turns out, I did a bad job at that too! LOL
