m7 153?

The 06 is one of the best running stock sleds IMO, my dad has one, bone stock, it runs hard all day everyday, handles like a dream. the 05 ECU is a little less refined, so its a tad rich. BUT, the chassis and track is so hard to beat, my buddy has a modded out 06 and the thing flat rips, it aint gonna highmark with the huge sleds, but it does damn good, and its one of the best and easiest sleds to ride in the trees.

This may sound funny coming from a DOO guy, but i would have bought one if I hadnt gotten such a good deal on my sled.

Just rode with a guy that had an 06 on the weekend. I was really impressed. It had a bottle on it as well but it was only used on some big climbs. Worked awsome in the trees as well and hooked up really good. I am probably going to make the switch to an M8 next year

I have a buddy that has an '05 162" and his slide rails cracked. Do you know of any problems with the rails on the 153"? They are shorter so I imagine that they hold up better, but just wondering.

i have an 06 153'
big fan, first sled i have owned and no regrets thus far. sled is all stock but i do plan on putting on a pipe, can, y-pipe at some point:rolleyes:

i would by another one, no questions asked. no issues thus far:D

i have had no problems with my 06 great sled easy to ride . also easy to mod and they make everything for it
only regret is no reverse but o'well

I had a 05 m7 Cat 153", put 1800 miles on it, was probably the best handling sled I ever rode. Very easy to learn on. My biggist complaint was the Attack 20 track, if you are looking at buying one look for one with out that track or one that is priced accordingly. It never won any races with my buddies but it started everytime and finished every ride.

:D

I have a friend with one that I rode quite a bit in Idaho. I had a couple 800 Rev's and we would switch sleds quite a bit. It was way easier to toss around than my Doo's with swaybars removed. Sidehilled much easier too. Hard to compare it power wise because my sleds were 800's but it felt pretty strong, definitely gave up a lot to the 800's though. All in all I ended up jumping ship and going Arctic Cat this year as a result of riding his sled. Not to bash the doo's, I really liked both my Rev's and never had any of the clutching issues that you read about on here.

I will say this, the m7 was a pig to ride on the trail, but since we only ride trail to the play area it wasn't a big deal. Oh, and his had the camoplast. Often rode with a big group of cat's and didn't hear too many good things about the attack 20. I know a lot of guys switched tracks after buying m's with attack 20's. Just my opinion. Not brand biased. I hope to get some seat time on a new RMK this year.

Service the DD regularly and keep an eye on the recoil housing and bolts. The case has a cutout section so the recoil housing only rests on 70% of the machined surface... Over time the housing starts to crack.
Other than that they are good performing sleds and the engine is bullet proof.

I have 4 hard seasons on mine have replaced a bunch of stuff on it though:
2nd seat
2nd handle bars
2nd Steering stem
2nd set of A-arms
3rd hood (diamond S)
2nd rear bumper
Pipe, can, head, air box
runs great and pulls hard, light as hell too...

Man you guys are getting me pumped!! I just bought mine a month ago and we still don't have enough snow to ride it!

i love my 06 M7 light and very strong. that sled has never left me in the woods yet. exelent power for a 700. the best mountian sled AC has ever made. IMO

you wont be dissipointed!!!

both great machines, but get the 06 if you get the chance worth the extra money [ update's ecu, steering, cooling], try to get one with the camo challenger, better all around track than the attack 20. and i know of a few 05 m7's that flaked their nickasil at 1200 miles. but haven't seen any 06's do it.{bad run at the plating factory}.

Works good in the mountains.....the ride up to the mountains feels like you're riding a 10 year old sled tho.

If your large and like to stand up, you will need risers and a seat to feel like a newer sled.

You won't beat many bigger sleds in a climbing competition, but you can boondock anywhere. Dependable and respected in the mountains but terrible on the trail. I can live with that. I could have traded up to a newer sled but am going to keep riding the 06 for at least another season. (Steer clear of the attack 20)

I owned an 06 M7 153, had the challenger track, and in really deep snow it sucks. The 05-08 cat really did a crappy job on tracks. If you buy an M7 replace the track with a camoplast, and put on a can. That can makes all the differance. I would also recommend getting a boss seat and handle bar riser at least 3", if not you will be slamming you're knees on the hood. It hurts like hell.
