M1100T vs MCX 180 Nytro

Lets add another factor. Who gets better fuel mileage? With the 4 strokes being heavier I hate to carry extra fuel.

The Nytro tank only holds around 7.4 gallons. I think the m1100t is 10.6 gallons. I don't know the figures on fuel mileage.

The Yami looks like hell compared to the 1100t.. but the 1100t sounds like it has a briggs lawn mower engine :( get the 1100t to sound like the yami and you have a winner... Love the way the proclimb looks hate how it sounds

They focused their time on getting the can to get rid of the heat properly. Early designs got the can so hot that it melted things around it..........

Owens son Cord (4 stroke engineer for Cat) told us that this motor can really benefit from a more aggressive can, but beware of the heat!

That is precisely why I am waiting to put on a can until mid season when people get time to test these out more........

have a hard time believing post#6

In general I would agree, but Madmax is usually pretty to the point, no BS in his posts, and with mod sleds, the reality is that there are many owners who are clueless about clutching, or did a poor install on their own... these things are just the reality. I've seen piped 1000's get walked on by an 8, normally I'd say BS, but the guy THOUGHT it ran good, but he was running WAY wrong clutching for the sled.

Like every other comparison... too many variables, including rider.

I agree that the 180 kit on the Nytro had to be running very bad, the MCX 180 Nytro,s I have seen will destroy ANY stock sled, I know when I finally receive my M1100T that I don't expect it to be even close to my Nytro 270+hp (even with the Hyjacker)but hoping it will handle better.

If the 180 MCX is truly 180... any stocker SHOULD be a joke in comparison, ESPECIALLY at altitude, that's why I can only assume that the one he talks about was running poorly, as the M8 is only 105-110 hp up at altitude, so it shouldn't even be in the ballpark.

I was the guy on the M8 for some of the drag runs against the MPI turbo Nytro. And as some of you know I worked for MPI for 2 years so I do know yamaha products inside and out and have ridden them many times. As a matter of fact I helped this person with his GEMS fuel controller adjustment. He said the sled was running just under 9000 rpm (perfect) and making 8 lbs with an AFR of around 12.0. He was running a 162 2.5 extreme. The sled did surprise me at how well he was able to build boost and didnt seem to have any lag. We left together every time which surprised me because I thought the rear mount MPI would have to play catch up. But he did not get away from me either in about a 100 yard dash. That said there are about a million factors in this, one being load. A drag race in a foot of snow is not going to load the big 4T. Point them up a hill and things will be different Im sure but the point is the PRO CLIMB M8 is a very strong running stocker. Now for BOOST!

that is true about setup..... too many variables

get to compare with all brands this weekend (11/12pros,11/12etcs,12proclimb,1100t) will post results tuesday :)

At roughly what altitude were you doing this comparison? I would expect for the first 50 yrds. to be even, then after that the MPX to start digging in? But like you said it all comes down to power/weight ratio, clutching and traction. Between the MPI and the 1100 the MPI will have the top end advantage, but once you set the 1100 at 220 and up then the tables start to turn! Mike

About 11k. Mirror lake area in the Uintahs. After our ride yesterday Im sure the m1100t will be all the 180 yammis can handle. Install a similar exhaust setup like all boosted Yamahas have ( short passive muffler or none at all) and I think the difference will be much bigger. We noticed a difference of 300ish rpm between the stock sled (black)60 miles and the stock with exhaust (white)30 miles. Im positive it was no fluke the white sled simply makes more power and at the end of our ride it became more obvious. The Cat and Yamaha both make good power but why is it everyone thinks yamaha has a magic wand and there engines make more HP? Its all pistons, rods, and valves I couldnt care less what name is on the flap.

I dont' think peeps have a magic wand for there yammis. just a proven motor that has been out for a long time and have had amazing success. Interested how there is very little seat time and comparison's between the 2 brands and every cat loyalist is naming the 1100T as the next best thing. don't get me wrong, I am very interested and my next sled will probably be a cat 2 stroke or 4 stroke for my kid. I just trying to sift through the keyboard hero posts and get hard facts on how the new sled is doing. I do believe that a turbo'd nytro will hand any 2 stroke it's lunch for comparison. If it is close the sled is not running properly. I hope MPI owners don't take this wrong but I have never seen a supercharger around here run clean period. Maybe it's just the companies up here that are setting them up, not sure. Would be appreciated to hear more info from you guys that actually have seat time on the sleds and actual comparisons. I know lots of guys who think this is the ugliest sled yet from cat, but it's actually the sled that might have me looking to buy one. Think cat hit this year out of the park with this lineup. Please keep the info coming.

Actually this was a rear mount MPI turbo 180 kit. The kit out of the 2012 yamaha acc. catalog. The MPI turbo is a masterpiece IMO as all of Mac's stuff is. In a head to head between the super and turbo the super is better out of the gate but the turbo is better on top. This sled was tuned very well and ran clean. Again lots of variables involved here. No load being the first. Yamaha does make a great engine and is legendary in power and durability. The cat is not new (about 4 years old including the first year NA engine) but it too has made a name for its self. The little cat twin is a runner. Between Madmax and myself I think we have a little over 100 miles on the 1100t so yes we still have a lot to learn. I can tell you this for certain, the proclimb 1100t is a VERY good chassis even if it weights more than a VW :face-icon-small-sho

Lol. Just be glad your cat onlY weighs what a vw does. I've about mastered not getting stuck on the nitro so my nads don't hurt pulling it out. I will always have a nytro or Yammi in the stable but the white or all black cat sure would look good in the shop.
