Ok, to make a short story long, I have a 2005 pol 900 RMK and I think I want a M1000, People dont talk too much about them, but maybe Im not in the right place at the right time when people are talking. Iv road a M7 163 for a weekend 3 years ago and loved it. Then I got a 730cc snopro mod sled with a 144 track and loved that but I blow it up too much and sold it. Then I rented a M8 163 last year on a trip to MT, (the snow was lacking so I didnt ride it like the way I would have liked to) it ran OK. So now Im on a 900 RMK with a 166 track that is set up well. holz frontend, fox floats, and the engine runs good (Its as good as a 900 can get) So now to my ????, should I get a M1000, M8 or a M7? Im going to buy something so please tell me the good the bad and the ugly.
Thanks guys!:D

are you going to ask me out on a date? :)
Im 5'10 210 lbs. but if im looking for a date im 5'11 190 lbs :)

I came off a 05 900.

This is how I see it. You're small enough that if you like to mod a new engine you could go to a M8 and be close to the RMK.

If you want to leave the motor close to stock, then get the M1000.

PM Dogmeat he just got a M8 and looked at the M1000 first and still has his 06 900.

Sorry your just a little short for my liking:D, lol

If your 900 runs strong and your are happy with it, i would just hold on too it IMHO, but if you decide on a cat, go with a new M8 if you can afford one they will be alot easier for you to throw around. If price is a problem then definitley go with an M10 there is plenty of good deals out there and they have great stock reliable power, you can get a new 08 for around 7k +tax. hope that helps you a little bit!

Something I want to know is, dose 1000 have that much more power then the 8 that your can feel it and use it or does it just feel like its bigger. Kinda like riding a KX 500 or CR 500 you can feel it has more power and if you know how to ride a big bike you can use it. I would like to ride a m1000 before sending the big 9 down the road. Do you guys think the m1000 feel like a polaris 900?

No offense but compared to any m1000 the 9 is not comparable. The 2010 m8 is the best out of the box sled and will run with a m1000. But with a slp pipe the m1000 can't be touched by the m8 with the same rider and setup. The m1000 will need a few more thing like extra motor mounts simple things that go a long way. Most of the 200+lbs people like the m1000 for the torque. It will pull your arms. both sleds need shift assists ( small flat bearing in secondary) and better rollers. You can get the m1000 with 15lbs of the 09 m8 and 19.5lbs on the 2010 m8. the m1000 motor weighs more everything else is the same. I can't feel the weight difference but can definitely feel the power difference. I am 205-210lbs and 6'6". the way it feels is in setup more than anything, and with the skis always 2+ft in the air its hard to say its heavier.

No matter what, Get a 09 or newer it is worth every penny.

09 m1000 162 slp pipe

I found a 07 M1000 for a good price (IMO) It would take about $1,500-$2000to go from my 05 900 to this 07 M1000 I think Im going to fire sale the big 9 and get the M1000. I know I would be happy with a M8 but the price is too high for me right now.

Just a heads up if you go with a (2008 or 2007)M10 and it has the 09 reflash, pipes are really hard to tune with a bd box, slp is currently working on a map for the 09 reflash with a power commander fuel control box, and supposedly BD boxes cannot reach all of the tight fuel points in the 09 reflash fuel mapping. i have not heard of any sucess stories for tuning with the reflash, if any of you have numbers for a speedwerx of slp setup please PM me.

I have both

I have an 08 M1000 with some minor mods. Runs good, fun sled. I have an 09 M8 SP with a slp pipe kit. The sled is so fun, my only complaint is the power when climbing side by side I can climb about 50-60 yards higher on my M1000 than I can on the M8. point and shoot situation! I did several of these runs this weekend and the consistent result was 50-60 yards higher up the hill. If this is the important part for you then get the 1000, if not get the M8 plus M8's are a little more desirable to resale if needed? IMHO.

Any used m1000, Pull pipe and look in the y-pipe at the cylinders for scaring and run a compression check. Also look for maintenance on the DD. Replace fluid when you get it. and when shifting from foward to reverse only do it at low rpm and slowley idle up to make sure it in gear to keep from grinding the gears. there is very little fluid and any metal will ruin it. Most of them rub the spark plug wires through on the head to. Look for signs of mods. always ride it too.

Im getting the M1000 for sure then :) I think I know what a good price on a 07 M1000 is but what do you guys think?

Pm Jeffro on here, he has a 07 M10 like 1250 miles new DD, in great shape without the reflash for only 5200, and you could probably have it shipped to CO for around 250-450, he also has a pipe and head setup for it, so you would be somewhere around 185-200 hp:eek:

I sold my 07 last year for 5900. this year I would pay 4000 on average and would have to know everything about the sled for any more, if it was perfect, no more than 5 and would pay extra for a slp or sw pipe but not any other pipe. the right Clutching mods, PC track, tunnel conversion count as well. i know a guy that just sold a clean 07 with 2k and jaws twins on it for 4500. would not recommend twins to anyone except experienced tuners.

Well $4,000 is less then what I was thinking. But thats good for me. Man I would have loved to buy that m1000 with twins for $4500. I will be keeping my eyes open. If some one has a M1000 for sell feel free to PM me. I will drop the price on the big 9 even more to send it down the road.

Last January I paid $4000.00 for a M1000 153 with 800 miles on it.
The deals are there, just a bad time of year to find deals. I just stumbled on mine last year and had to jump quick:D

I Have A 07 M1000 With The 09 Reflash & CPC Twins & It Runs Spotless its a blast to ride I had a SLP Single on it before the Twins & It Ran Good Also But The Twins Run Spot on And Was Easy To Tune In BUY A 1000 YOU WONT BE SORRY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:beer;:beer;:beer;:beer;:beer;:beer;:beer;:beer;:beer;:beer;:beer;:beer;

I just switched to an 09' M8 SP 162" from an 06' 900 RMK that was pretty well set up, at least for a 900 RMK ...

I'd take the M8 over my 900 RMK any day of the week.

I don't think you'll be unhappy with an M8 or an M10, both are a lot better sleds.

dude i ride the 900 full slp setup and i got on my bros 07 m1000 that he bought last weekend and it was much easier to play around with. one thing though it felt somewhat heavier in the front than the 900 rmk. the torque is bada$$ and it takes the rmk no problem. I'm, i weigh 180 im 6' 2" , and i like the m1000 way better its much easier to do anything an itll go farther than the poo;)

Can be changed with suspension setup and skis, they can also feel heavy from trying to hang on.
