I was wondering ,I own a m1000 but with these newer sleds getting lighter mines a 08 , but if Im right 2010 m8 would be around or over 50 pounds less than mine and within 5 to 10 hp difference wondering to get new m8 162 im a big man 6'6 and heavier than average over 200 pounds. Do small climbs love the thrust of my 1000 but was told new m8 was going to be stronger thrust from rep just wanted anybody my size feed back ty

in the fall we will see i guess, i love my 09m8 but in reality its still a small block vs a big block, the small block may be there in a race but when the going gets tough i think the m1000 wouldnt give up as quickly. just my .02

it might have similar HP numbers stock as your 1000 does, but your 1000 has the torque and that's what big boys need to get moving. Spend the money on some easy mods for your 1000 and no 800 will ever come close... granted the 1000 takes some more tweaking to get dialed, but learn from those on here that have made 'em work and you'll be happy.

A boss seat or new AC seat, SLP pipe setup, BDX intake, all boggies out, and a BDX bumper and you've dropped nearly 40 lbs to get you within 10 of the M8. Go the extra mile and get a BDX lite and lite driveshaft and that's another 12lbs or so there and your right at the weight of an M8 with WAY more and WAY more torque and similar weight. You'll still have spent less than you would selling your 1000 and getting an 2010 M8. :D

Ty for info ,I have thought of seat , have seen in here alot of problems when you mod it. Need new hood so I thought might be simplier to get new , this sleds been real good over 1350 miles on first belt.

Them there are the true facts^^^

lighten them up where strength isn't critical....dial it in with box, let the torque cure what ails it. Consider Boost. Even before lightening it up consider a REAL SUSPENSION....all AC skids are pure crap. Please AC dont let the 1000 die next year.

X2 with MrQuick.

I have 1100 miles on 09 m1000 162 with slp, bd box, bdx intake, oil delete, koso dual egts, fuel pressure reg. and it flat rips, I am around 230lb with gear and 6'6". My dealer has been telling me to buy a m8 since they came out but he can't produce one that will beat my m1000 less a turbo. I am with 5lbs of a stock 09 m8 weight.

The 08 m1000 is listed as 22lbs heavier than a 09 m1000 a 09 m8 is listed as 31lbs lighter than a 09 m1000s. So a stock 09 m8 is 53lbs lighter than a 08 m1000. My dealer told me the 2010 m8 dropped weight in some areas and added in others, IE the exhaust can. So until the come out he says the 2010 stock to stock 09 m8 will be within 5lbs of each other.

If I threw on a boss seat and mesh hood I would be under a 2010 m8 in weight and rated around 200hp and 140 torque. So far I havent had any other naturally aspirated sled out perform mine, even a cutler dragon 1000.

If your not good at tuning or don't the capability, you may be better off with the m8.

Well I'll have to look things up I guess , I weigh more than any that post here and I dont have to be the fastest but with hurt back definitly want to be light for moving around when I, m with my family are to small to help much so Im always trying to get myself out . anyway ty for replys any more info would be great ty,

You will not get a 1000 to feel light like the 800. The engine is just to heavy.
I have a perfect running slightly modded M8 and my buddy has the same stuff done to his 1000. I can beat him if we drag race on hardpack but thats it.
He out climbs me everywhere. Its pretty close but I can't beat him.
We raced up a slight incline with about a foot of fresh. I got him by a length at the start then he passed me and kept pulling away.
When he rides mine he says its easier to ride and maneuver.
But for a bigger guy I think you want the torque of the 1000.
Do like most of these guys are saying. Lighten it up and get the slp set up. Trust me, you will be satisfied.

A stock 08 m8 feels heavier than a stock 09 m1000, my honest opinion is after you mod a m1000 and get used to it the only diff you can feel is the loss in power, yesterday my buddy that rides a 07 m8 told me my m1000 feels heavier, but he doesn't realize my m1000 is lighter than his m8 by 20+lbs, I think its in his head and he just wants something to be proud of.

I ride an 08 M1000, and today I rode with a 2010 M8, 162 tracks, both powerclaws, apples to apples. They were pretty much dead even on hill drag races every time. The 8 felt lighter side to side than my M1000. I would not doubt they do away with the M1000, unless they lighten it up too, and make it 180 horse...

According to your mods you,ve dropped a little over 10lbs so your still 40lbs heavier than a 09 m8 and still pulling the same as a 2010 m8 which is rated almost the same hp. Pretty well shows the torque aspect of the m1000.

It would be interesting to see if anyone has put a 09 m1000 against the 2010 m8, and if they would put as much effort into making everything work on the m1000 as they do on the demo sleds.

I'm 6'3" and weight 220 LB's I have a M1000 and the wife has a M8. I can feel the difference in weight of the sleds but when you are in the deep powder or climbing you cannot replace the torque! Get the M1000. But both sleds are great!

One more vote for the M1000! Tune 'em in (it's not that hard to do and every sled out there requires some semblance of "tuning" so why not tune a 1000!)........and enjoy the torque. The sled flat out rips...........everywhere..........on hills...........or boondocking.

Try it..........you'll like it.:D

Stick wih the m1000 its all about torque. It didnt cost me any more than a $1500 to pipe my 09 m1000 and lighten it to 445 dry. And that was the best $1500 yet. I put $10000 + into my m7-900 and it is not my 1000. And yes that hurts, but there both mine................

Looks like the Racer's Edge skid mod. $2000 Cdn. Do a search for Samurai's posts and you'll see lots of feedback/opinion on it.

Yup it's the RE suspension from the Baker Boys......The absolute nutz it cured the problems with the AC suspension. Just love it, I've tryed 3 other skids and was very disappointed.

Middle shock is a ZBROZ EXIT...again what a difference.

power power power

I'll never go to M8 the power of a small mods on a 1000 is great and why not go big you can always down size. My vote is M1000, but not a 2010 let them work the bugs out, find a 08 mine is sweet with over 2400 miles on it.:D

I'm thinking slp pipe and y pipe kit new 2010 seat and vent kit hope to lose 20 some puonds or more my first belt blew at 1357 miles so I know clutch works good.Dont know if new track is needed the powerclaw.
