m1000 gearing

I put in 55/65 in my m1000 and it's more controllable in the powder and sidehilling. you don't feel like like your going mach 3 across the hill as my 1000 can really get going at full throttle. I like the controll of the sled now. I noticed you did your gears in 3 times. Any reason why??? for guys reading this that have not put in gears. It didnt take to long to install gears but for 2 bolts had to use small wrench with torx bit out of screwdriver as not enough room to get ratchet and bit in to remove those 2 bolts near foot rest and its small turns and takes awhile to get them out. Just make sure you have all tools needed when starting job or you will be heading to store for tools. also oil for dd drive comes in 12 oz bottle and 3 oz bottles. My m1000 09 takes 15 oz so had to buy a 12 and 3 oz bottles. some years only take 3 oz. There is a gasket you can get for the drive now but not sure of number but i used silicone at the time i did mine. also when filling had to rig up a funnel and a hose as didnt want to lay it on it side with the hood open (would have been fun) and so far all good, hope this helps:beer;
cheers

I was told that 1:1 in the clutching at 7800rpm was 78 mph. if you geared it to run in a 1:1 ratio at about 60-65mph would be ideal on a 200+hp m10.

How much and how difficult to change the gearing.
Done plenty on the doo's.
Dan

Pretty much the easiest thing to change on these sleds. Mine took me i/2 hr. and Only because I snapped a faceplate bolt off and had to remove the diamond drive cover and replace it. Biggest thing is to get new gears with new bearings b4 the switch. I swapped my bearings over and I still only spent 1/2 hr..........

From 78 to 65 thats only 13mph at 1:1 and on the top end its probably only going drop you to 85 mph. how fast do you want.

I agree if youre more concerned about the trail ride bring a xross fire out to play. If were talking about gearing on an m1000 it mostly for harnessing power for climbing, just saying

this maybe a dumb question but do you have to do major clutching when you lower your gears! im still running stock clutching for 6000ft ?

Changing gearing should not require any clutching changes. Gearing does not chance rpms.
