M 1000 Sink or Swim?

So there I was working hard at work looking at watercross vids, i mean reasurching parts for work ka hu...... and it was bugging the hell out of me all summer, will this 162 2.25 track swim my 500+Lb sled across a lake? well acording to all the stuff I read about track, weight, and so on....no, but why would I still risk sinking my 12k sled? Well....you know what they say about what killed the cat, Ya, I wanted to know. so there I was at the lake, rampd off the truck, at the water edge...warmed up, full fuel.... (O, and the traction on sandy gravel is more than snow).... front end way up in the air.... o shi$ off throttle... O shi$ water... full fuel, too late Gooooo.....before you know it I am on top the water heading twards shore on the other side. first time ever trying this and what a rush! cant wait till next time.

Yes but did you end up swimming to the other side or gliding in smoothly? :D

Ha!......Funny, yes i made it across ON the sled, but I did take some precautions, life vest, seat off, 50 ft. line with bouy, and shollow end of lake, made 8 crossings about 1\2 mile stretch. But on the last run I slowed down too soon apone reaching shore and belt got wet and sank in 3 ft of water 5 ft from shore. Ya my friends laughed their a$$es off. note to self...tape up tub seams and keep on the throttle, water is a good lube between belt and clutch.

nice work, i was gonna go do some at our city beach, but i was stuck in the house with head trauma until i left for college, so i couldnt get the sled out.

saw two videos of a guy with an rt 1000 in norway i think, one he pins it and the thing sits straight up in the water, the other on, its the ride and 3 kids hopping down the river, it had no problem. now i wanna go find some water....

I have no idea what the obsession with using a snowmobile to ride on water is about.

It's about the right tool for the job to me. Why not get a PWC if that's what you're trying to do?

This one didnt swim LOL:D
