M 1000 Engine Mods

I was just wondering who does the best engine mods for the M 1000. I am looking at maybe building something this summer and wondering what works and what does not work. No boost...just a want a torque monster mountain sled.

I know these motors do not do well in stock form but can come alive with porting, air box mods, pipes ect.

Who does the best overall motor work in regards to porting and set up....what kind of HP numbers can you expect various mods.

Talk to Kelsey at Rk tek. I have his porting and head man did my sled wake up. His secondary clutch setup works good too.

Ditto what Markoo said, Kelsy is a great resource & knows what WORKS TOGETHER to make a sled rip.

The biggest thing I'll say, figure out how far you want to go & what kind of $$ you want to put into the sled. Many mods work well, but not together. If you get one mod... then another... then another... you may end up with a turd that doesn't run well & isn't reliable, on the other hand if you set a realistic HP goal & decide how much you're willing to spend to get there, a number of different packages can do a great job of getting you toward whichever goal you decide on.

I've done a few different levels on our 1000's here & currently one of ours is a 1000 with less than $1200 retail into the motor & it's an absolute ripper. You don't have to spend a ton of $$ to get a fun sled.

Do you want to share what mods you did for $1200 to make it rip?

2008 M1000 162 (ride 3000 -7000 ft)
Brent Linderman (Arctic Edge Motor Sports) Stock Head Modification, Ported Cyclinders.
SLP Y-Pipe, Pipe and Exhaust Can, AEM O2 sensor, Boondocker fuel controller,
79.5 gram weights, Stock Yellow white steel primary spring, CPC Secondary
40/38 Helix c/w CPC Orange spring, BDX 57/63 gearing, 060 belt, Frog skins, Snowpro airbox, 162 Powerclaw track, updated rear tunnel, side vents, ECU Updated to 2009 specs, Electronic Reverse, Boss Seat, Fox Floats. Tether chord because the sled might leave you behind. This sled has never been better.

2009 M1000 LE 162 (ride 3000 - 7000 ft)
Kelsey (RKTech) Tourque Line 13.6-1 Head, Speedwerx Y-Pipe, BMP Can.
stock exhaust pipe, clutching (3)-83 gr primary (7540 rpm), stock secondary. 060 belt, 60/60 gearing, Side vents, everything else stock.
After 6500 ft elevation you should drop some primary clutch weight for RPM.
This was by far the cheapest without adding a fuel controller.

I know that the well known brand names and individuals who work on
these sleds must have spent alot of time to produce their unbelievable products for naturally aspirated sleds.
All their components compliment one another. Right now I have no need for a turbo. Talk to them, they will set you up.

See you at the top

I'll recommend Bikeman Performance great perforemance bolt on kits with dino charts to prove the hp. Mine has ran great, with the little experiance I have. Have kept up with the odd turbo too. Talk to Jimmy, great guy. Will be ordering 1200 or 1300 BB kit this summer from them.

RKT head, super Q can, SW (I think, heck, I have no idea whose Y it is)Y pipe, BDx intake, BDX oil delete, bdx powervalve deletes, koso fast EGT's. (I think that's about $1200 worth or so) I've also got a decent amount of weight pulled, most was pretty cheap aside from the $ I wasted on TI... Don't give BDX your money for that crap.

This WILL NOT work on every sled without a box or fuel reg, but it has been a great pull & go sled for me, the most enjoyable machine I've owned to date.
At most elevations you would need a box with a few points pulled from the bottom & few added to the top.

The valves deletes are just in because the PV cables are backordered, but they give the sled a real mid throttle rip compared to stock. I wish we could just change the programming to open them a bit earlier.

I've run a few different states of tune on the 1000's & run with quite a few others & have only seen a few that were really impressive for the $$.

For what OP is looking to spend he could get the RKT port, head, pipe, and some weight loss & have a real ripper.

going to save you lots of money in the end ,put a turbo on it now and save yourself spending all that money on naturally aspirated mods, had a 1200 with nitrous and it couldnt touch what i have now, just my 2 cents
