Low Flow Fuel Cell on 2009 Mirage Trailer?

I bought a 2009 Mirage Trailer which has a fuel cell, pump, and nozzle for sled gasoline. Real handy except I am getting very low flow and it takes almost 8 to 10 minutes to fill a sled! The pump is an GPI EZ-8 electric pump. Previous owner (good friend) has told me it has always been this way since new and he was told by dealer it was due to the number of elbows on the suction line from the tank. Anyone else experience this? Ideas on fixing it properly? Thanks!

My 2007 is the same way. Bought the trailer new, and have always sworn that I am going to install a higher flow pump, but has not happened yet. Maybe when the pump dies it will happen.
Also, climb under there and check the bolts holding the tank in place. Saw reports of tanks coming loose a few years ago. Climbed under mine one day and discovered there was only one bolt remaining on mine, and the nut was gone. Bought all new bolts and locking nuts. Should have been that way from the start.

My Jayco Octane toy hauler camper had the same issue. I was looking at all the connections and reducers from the fuel tank to the pump and thought that may be what was causing my problem too. I was only pumping a few gallons at a time so just lived with it. I sold it over a year ago.

Talked with Mirage factory rep and he said there is nothing wrong they are just slow. Guess I will live with it for now. Thanks for the replies!

As of 2011 models the pump volume rate has increased for 4 gal/min to 8 gal/min.
The pump mfg is constantly working towards faster pumps.
Mirage will always strive to use the most current products available provided they test out in the current application.

Make sure you have plenty of electrical capacity. My service truck with a transfer tank uses battery cables. I started with smaller wires and things would get hot. I upped the size of wire and problem went away. Pump would also run faster. Start the truck and the pump runs even faster. Higher voltages and amperages help even more. If I was to guess this is where you have the problem. To test this if you have a battery charger with 30 amp setting. Hook charger directly to the pump and see what happens.

That pump is rated for 8 Gallons per minute. So it should be in the ball park of 6-7 GPM with hose and nozzle. Remember it has a small hose matched with a small nozzle. This will create a restrictions that slow the flow. Might want to try a 3/4" hose.

An 8gpm pump in real life is less than 50% than that. I swear these pump makers must get their ratings with the tanks mounted above the pump with NO hose attached at all on the discharge side.

I have numerous Fill Rite 20gpm pumps on service trucks and they all take 10 minutes to empty their 100g tanks.
