i am trying to bring my friends neglected 01 rmk 8 back to life, it sat for 3 or 4 years. i finaly got it started but after running for about 2 minutes there was about 1/2 cup of oil on the floor that came out the exhaust. any ideas why? can the oil keep leaking by the pump when sitting?

also does anyone know if the ignition is on premium or reg when the wires on the back of the keys are unplugged?

thanks

oil

Pretty common on a cold engine. Oil pump acts as a check valve so it shouldn't let oil past it. Also the fittings where the lines plug onto the motor are check valves too and they add resistance to the system so the oil doesn't just run through. All of that said having set that long it may have weeped some oil especially if the bottle was topped off. I wouldn't be concerned unless it continues to do it after riding it or it uses excessive oil.

Unplugged key switch is Prem.
