Lots of belt info but

I need to buy belts for my 06 Summit 800 ho with a 151. I know doo no longer makes the 166 and the 383 is junk. But with changing to a different belt I here you need to adjust your clutch also. By removing weights.

What have you found that you had to change by changing belts? How much weight removed? What belt do you run and would you do it again? If I stay with a doo belt with a different part number do I need to remove any weight?

Thanks for the help
Bill

I switched from the 166 to the 377 belt that everyone recommends over at DT. I believe its the belt that the new summits come with. I didn't see the need to change weights, but you absolutely should be checking belt deflection after installing any new belt.

Agreeded, I'm running the 377 as well. Didn't change weights in the clutches, I've never heard that one before?!

I know that you WILL need to change your deflection. After that you shouldn't have to do anything!

I'm running the 377 on my 07 800 Gade. No pin weight changes for me and it pulls consistent RPM'S.

I am using the 377 on my 09 800X163 & on my 03 800HO X 151 and is doing a good job, over a thousand miles and still looks new only had to adjust once, but ya always have to adjust belt deflection when installing a new belt and keep it checked if ya want belt life.

Felkers in Loveland CO has custom make Felker belts for the rev and xp sleds. They are made to his specs. I am running one and it works great. RPM doesn't jump around as much as stock belts. Most people drop down one clicker sitting. As for belt life, I can't tell you as this is my first year using the belt. So far I have over 400 miles of hard mountain riding with no issues. But then again I would get 2 or more years out of a belt. Look them up on the intranet and give the a call.
