lost clutch side cylinder

belt exploded on a 2015 pro last week, put preasure on crank case seal but was not leaking air. per starting fluid test. had local dealer replace seal. took out and rode 25 miles ran great. 2 days later 6 miles up the trail lost clutch side cylinder. any conections you can think of?

I've heard that exploding a belt can cause the crank to bend very slightly or go out of time. Do you know if they checked crank run-out? I thought you have to split the case to replace a cranks seal? Did they?

no I do not think they checked crank run out when they replaced the seal and yes you have to split cases to replace the seal , the reason I had seal replaced was because of cosmetic damage and it was only a matter of time until it started leaking. but I have been told since that if the seal did leak the motor would add more fuel to compensate for the leak therefor preventing a burn down.

Fair enough. But no theres really no way of the engine knowing to add more fuel. If pipe sensor gets too hot or coolant too hot itll add more fuel and retard timing but if seal leak or bad injector you'll lean that side out and burn down every time.

I wonder if you have recourse against the dealership. If you have the ability, take a good look to see that everything is as it should be. If they split the case that mean engine had to be removed and oil lines disconnected. Did they bleed the oil pump? Did they hook up intake boots correctly? Where intake boots torn during re-assembly?

Anyway to start engine again on one cylinder and do another leak test on crank seal? I wouldn't be surprised if the crank seal was press fit without splitting the case.

Good luck and continue sharing what you discover.
