Losing oil

Tried to pull a guy out of a hole,(xp with busted drive shaft), and overheated my Apex with BD turbo. Now, even though it runs fine, I am losing a lot of oil out of the breather tube. Went riding Saturday and it lost about 1 1/2 quarts. Doesn't seem to be any excess coming out ot the exhaust and it pulls like it did before. Any suggestions on what might have happened and what I need to check. Thanks

Is it making the same # of boost? Sounds like you lost the seal on the impeller shaft?

Seems to be the same, still making 10# at 8000 ft, believe that's where it's been set at for the season

More bad news, went to check the anti-freeze, fluid level was way down in that too. Am I looking at a blown head gasket?

Neither of those things are related to each other. When you say you lost 1 1/2 quarts do you mean in just one ride? If your loosing it through the breather hose, that's normal. If you see blue smoke from your exhaust you might want to check your oil return line on your turbo and make sure it isn't kinked.

How low is your antifreeze? If you have a blown head gasket chances are you would smell antifreeze especially after a long pull. And if it was blown chances are you wouldn't be low, you would be out of antifreeze. You also might see white smoke comming out the exhaust.

zeb i have seen a couple go now that just pressurized the system & push it out the overflow other than that no visible signs, but a leakdown test will tell you for sure.

Just a little clarification; Lost the 1 1/2 quarts in one ride of 36 miles of which 14 was the trail in and back. Antifreeze resevoir was below empty but the overflow bottle was full. No obvious blue smoke or antifreeze smell out of the exhaust. Looked like most of the oil leaked out the front of the belly pay. After a climb, lost antifreeze out the right side below where the side exhaust comes out. The temp overheat light did not come on. I appreciate all the input.

yup its pushing it out the overflow you have pressure in your system hopefully its not something worse but it sounds like a head gasket mine did almost the same thing but was not losing that much oil.
