Looks like I'll be moving to Chile...

Not to be a spoil sport but isn't Chilie home to Patagonia which is where there is a big land grab (kinda like our Wilderness) by the Patagonia and North Face guys?

Don't get me wrong that place looks sweet but ya gotta wonder if they aren't far behind us in the land fight.

patagonia is just a slice of it down there....its a really big country that runs right along the andes mountains....which are far more badass then our rockies....like buddie said, makes bc look like north dakota!!!! love that one!!!!

There are wilderness areas, but the place is huge, just go somewhere else and there will be no one there... What you are talking about is way down south.

Now I know for sure your a true Chileno, What about Argentina any back country skiing/riding on that side of the Andes? Whats the riding elevation 15-19K I would imagine.

Form 15k and up it turns into ice again, not the best riding... between 8k and 14k is where it's at! But now one is stoping you to got higher if you find the route.

Argentina has sick riding, just not as good and close to all the commodities we have here. Good to go on a trip anytime!

by the way, theANDES is me now, www.dostiempos.cl, soon will be updated!

I would definitely be up for a trip down south in say July or August. We need to find someone who has some legit late model sleds we can rent. That trip would be a blast. Vamos!!!

They do have new sleds down there. Check that other thread...with pics.
You have a link? I didn't see anything I would consider worth the cost of admission. All I saw was several year old Polaris and Ski doo. To me any of the current stuff would be fine. Several months ago I found some vague info about a company that had new Pro's as part of their package.

Load a bunch of sleds in a cargo container and ship them down and back. My buddy who ships from Asia pays about $2000 from asia to US. Put 10 sleds, or more, in a cargo container and ship them down and back. $4000 round trip for the sleds split by 10 guys, pretty cheap rental for a week. I'm in!

If that would work that would be great. I can't imagine you could fit 10 sleds in a container. Maybe if they all got crated up and stacked.

Anyone know prices excluding airfare?

We have 4 Pro RMK 800cc, working nice! we do tours right outside Santiago, the biggest mountains we have found! so deep it makes it hard to climb!
untouched backcountry for days, no tracks at sight! we can take groups of 4

Yeah.....that's $1,473 for 7 nights and 5 DAYS of riding. All-inclusive means meals sleds, fuel, lodging, and ibuprofen?

Do we bring our own gear? Helmets, avy equipment etc?

This sounds pretty cool!!!!

i think you got it wrong, 1.473 wouldn't even cover the lodging. each member of the group pays USD$ 5.890. and yes, it includes all that.

Wow...that is way expensive. Add airfare and any other incidentals and you will be around $7500-8k. Seems like a pretty hard sale to me.
