Looking to upgrade track and possibly rear skid

Yes you can, he had to do it with his rails because he hadn't any anti stabs.
I am almost certain his is from an 08 also, float in the rear, with a spring in the front.

Back to dfinn's question. I'm not sure how deep of paddle you can get away with on the nytro, but you do have to be careful on your front clearance. I think you might be able to run that 2.5" but I am pretty sure there are modifications required to clear the 3". Check out the clearance from the end of your paddle right up next to the chain case. On an Apex/RX there is a cooler up there. You really need good clearance in this area otherwise snow will build up in there at least enough to rob power. My friend that is running the powerclaw swears by it and we have roughly the same kind of snow here in Colorado.....light and fluffy and very deep.

I've got an '08 Nytro MTX. I live in Utah and ride mostly deep powder. I like boondocking but also want to be able to climb. Occasionally my sled gets doubled up on when used for skiing. This was my first mountain sled and first year out west with a sled. I was pretty happy overall with my Nytro last season but I definitely felt like I was getting stuck more than other people and also couldn't keep up with other sleds when it came to climbing and high marking.

IMHO don't worry about the Turbo. Upgrade the track, drop some weight and ride the thing to get used to the style of ridding you like to do. Don't drop the big coin on a turbo cuz everyone else and their dog think thats the only way to ride a 4 stroke...

Everyone is entitled to have their own opinion, but no one can say that a Turbo doesen't make a big diffrence, bigger difference then anything else IMHO.
Especially @ altitude!
I agree $6000 is A LOT of coins, but what if it's ~$3-4000?
It's still a lot of money, but you get a lot of hp and adding hp makes any sled much more ridable.

I rode with a guy that had a dragon 7 with a properly valved timbersled, and it was awesome! Took over for the lack of motor, and compensated to keep it right with 1000's on an uphill drag race on varying conditions. I also rode an apex last year with an ez ride suspension. On the hard core whooped out trail it soaked up the bumps really nicely. As far as handling, i dont know, it was good, but still an apex. Not comparable to a lighter sled...
