Looking for somewhere new... and cheaper

For the past few years, a group of us from Minnesota have been driving out to Togwotee and renting sleds for a few day trip. Lately it's been getting really expensive there.

My question is where should look at trying? We definitely need to go to a place where we can rent sled (800 class mountain sleds), that has good, deep powder, and has reasonable prices.

Snowies would be my guess about the same distance for you? Snowies has some good facilities and rental outifits. They also if I remember right ranked in the top 3 places to ride.

i like snowies. since my snowmobile broke down, i rent a snowmobile which is cost me 260 dollars for one day and half

West Yellowstone is by far the broadest range of riding and rentals...contact Kurt at Goldenwest...he will more than hook you up...

Big Horns

I like the Big Horns in WY. Bear Lodge has sleds and a place to stay. Decent snow if you hit it at the right time too.

I second West Yellowstone... Did new years there 2 years ago and was amazed how cheap the sled rentals were, I paid $140 a day for brand new 2008 RMK700, including fuel, plus they let you comeback and get if refilled for free once a day as well. Tons of great riding, the town is awesome, really caters to sledders in the winter, meals and accomodation were all quite reasonable as well (compared to BC anyways).:beer;

You could try Alpine Wy to, and rent Polaris 800's from Rockin M Ranch

he posts on here during the winter alot

Seem like really good prices for rent brand new sleds!

If your only going for a couple of days and renting, I would try a new place every time.

I've rode Cooke, West YellerStone, Bear Lodge in the Big Horns and the Snowies and would recommend them all.

we're planning on trying the big sky/bozeman area this year. we've been going to togwotee for quite a while and want some new terrain. it doesnt seem that much farther plus its interstate almost all the way. lots of steep and deep over in that area

This is Carrot Basin...not that difficult to get to at all...and more than enough riding for LARGE groups...to put i tin perspective....this specific area, this specific day there were no less than 20+ trucks and trailers at one of three parking lots...

We got there late, so were last ones in...and those are all our tracks...its just a huge area, and people get too distracted before they get to areas like this...this big play area is roughly 5 miles wide and 2 miles long...and those boundaries are just the basin...it is truly a phenomenal area to ride in...errr wait, it is just flat land only for beginners...

Where is this?

That is either 10 miles from a gas pump, you stashed your gas along side the trail or you only went out with the wife for a "day trip". Unreal pics! Looks like you could spend all day right there!

thats a awesome looking area. i know where we're heading this year:beer;:D

Alpine is my choice. You can stay there at very reasonable prices and because it is still in town, there are plenty of places to eat and drink in the area. You can still ride from your room and a rent top of the line sleds. I recommend the Rockin M Ranch, but there are other choices.
