You have to get a colorado out of state permit. They are available online or you can buy them from any of the local dealers.

If you are coming all the way from nebraska to ride rabbit ears, I would suggest driving over to Walcot Jnct. on I80 then heading south to Walden from there .... That way when you get to the ears, you can then ride your way back north to I80 and ride the snowies from the west side out of saratoga or even ride the madres out of encampment, but you'd also need a wyoming tag for both of those.

If coming from NE and going to Walden CO, we always turn at Laramie and take 230 to Walden. Maybe I'm missing something.

Yep, 230 from Laramie is the direct route to Walden. Snow wise, neither is exactly stellar and not a big difference between the two. They are pretty close to each other and tend to get the same storms.

Ahhh wait yup you're right for some reason I always forget you can go up through woods landing ..

I"m just used to riding the snowies out of the west side and not having to screw with the parking at green rock I always just forget about the east side entirley :p

Since Christmas, Buff has settled down to 40" from 70". Not much difference anymore.

I didn't know that the junction of I 80 and WY 130 was called "Walcot Jctn."

Its interesting that "Wolcott, Colorado," on I 70 is the interchange for one of the routes from I70 to Steamboat Springs (west side of Rabbit Ears Pass).

We were at buff pass right after christmas and for anybody that was there they know the snow was phenominal. However the snow has indeed settled alot and no new fresh lately. We got our tags at the court house at walden down in the basement. Had some buddies try snowies this weekend and they went to buff instead and said it was better, although neither one of them is ''great''.

There is still some great riding in Colorado. Not sure why people are complaining about "everyone in Colorado" and especially people from other states riding the areas. Snowmobilers are a huge boom to the local small town economies. If anything, especially on a low snow year we should be welcoming tourism with open arms and even more so snowmobilers.
